A Look Back...
VFW Auxiliary
T he E lder VFW Ladies
Auxiliary 4217 are very sad
dened by the passing o f an
other charter member o f the
Ladies Auxiliary.
I believe we have tw o
charter members left. Since
the change over to young
m em bers in charge we are
drastically forgetting to honor
our deceased with the memo
rial service they deserve. I
wish to apologize to the fami
lies o f c h a rte r m em b er
Bernice M itchell and chil
dren. There should be grave-
flag stands owed these de
ceased members.
T h e above m e n tio n e d
made sacrifices in support o f
our Veterans o f Foreign Wars.
They ,diligently raised funds
for many functions, including
a donation towards the funer
als o f our Veterans and La
dies Auxiliary m em bers. It
was through their foresight,
regular bi-monthly meetings
all members over the age o f
60 became lifetime members
(1999).
The service should never
be overlooked. It is in the
Book o f Rituals which was
revised by our Auxiliary to
befit our traditional and cul
tural ways. We as elders wish
to rem em ber the same. It
takes little energy to keep up
with the Rituals. There is also
a special cerem ony fo r a
grave-side memorial. April is
the m onth for the election o f
officers and we don’t know
who the new officers are and
if we are still in compliance.
May is coming up much
too fast when the old Auxil
iary would be gathering flags
to be distributed to the fami
lies o f Veterans. Please don’t
let those persons who fought
for our freedom down any
m ore and our devoted de
ceased Auxiliary m em ber,
Life is too short.
V.F.W. 4217 Ladies Auxil
iary (since age 16), N eda B.
Wesley.

Over 130 library books long overdue
By Craig Graham
Library Director
The Warm Springs Commu
nity Library has many books
that are long overdue.
The list o f books is too long
to print here, but will be pub
lished in the next Spilyay.
If you have overdue books,
please return them. Some are
expensive, some are rare, and
many are difficult to replace.
Many other people would like
to check these books out right
now but they can’t, not until you
return them.
These books belong to every
one. Bring them back for oth
ers to enjoy.
The library does not charge
for returning items late; how
ever if any boohs have become
lost or damaged under your care
you m ust make arrangements to
pay for them.
The library charges a $5 non-
refundable processing fee in ad
dition to any lpst or damaged
fines to help cover the cost o f
replacement materials.
T h e lib rary only accep ts
money orders and cash in the
exact amount. Again, we do not
charge for late returns b ut we
do charge for lost and damaged
items.
I f you have any questions
you can reach the library at 541-
553-1078.
