Native Women, Youth in Ag writing competition
The 2011 Native Women and
Youth in Agriculture annual writ­
ing competition is seeking essay
submissions.
The essay topic is: What
should Indian agriculture look
like 25 years from now?
An approach to the project
would be to research and talk
to elders about what the past 25
years of agriculture were like,
and then write about what you
think the next 25 years will be
like.
The deadline to submit essays
is 5 p.m. on Nov. 4.
Who is eligible? Young Na­
tive American women and men
who are in grades 9-12 this fall.
Graduates of May-August 2011
are also eligible to enter.
Contestants must be a mem­
ber of a federally recognized
tribe.

Dec. 5-9.
Finalists will be awarded sev­
eral other special prizes pre­
sented at the awards luncheon

Each finalist is required to
read a short introduction and
their original essay at the awards
luncheon.
