Dangerous Decibels team reports progress
Members of the Listen for
Life team recently presented a
progress report of the first year
of the Dangerous Decibels pro
gram to the Tribal Council.
Presenting team members in
cluded Billy M artin, Ga-Lo
Vann, Genna Martin and Carol
Sahme.
The team was excited to an
nounce that both the fourth- and
fifth-grade participants of last
fall’s program showed significant
improvement in their under
standing of how we hear, what
sounds can be dangerous, and
how we can protect our hearing
in a variety of settings.
The Council was pleased by
the outcome last year, and is
very supportive of Carol Sahme
continuing the Listen for Life
community wide effort for the
next few years.
Also making a debut appear
ance this fall will be new ear
protection items for sale in the
Warm Springs Market. Earplugs
that will fit both children and
adults, such as those demon
strated in the Listen to Life pro
gram, will be available for pur-
chase for fifty cents a set.
The Listen for Life team is
thankful to be welcomed back
into the Warm Springs Commu
nity.
The team will be hosting a
community night from 5:30-
7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct.
12 at the community center.
D inner will be served,
fourth- and fifth-graders will be
presenting important informa
tion and skills about noise in
duced hearing loss, and there will
be raffles and prizes. Everyone
is invited.
