grand children are Andreaz,
Bianca, Brent III, Daniel, Latrell,

In his early adulthood Herb
was very active in the sport of
drag racin g and was a co

Strip. He enjoyed this sport with
other founders that included
Pete Courtney, Joe Quinn, Joe
Enders, Calvin Quehapama and
Denny Tingle.
His knowledge, talent and ex
perience caught the attention of
the tribes. In 1969, he was hired
as the director of plant manage
m ent, overseeing the trib es’
buildings, facilities and infra
structure. His career with the
tribes spanned over 44 years.
He was later promoted to the
general manager of Public Utili
ties in 1999, after the retirement
of Mr. Ed Manion. In that ca
pacity, Herb was responsible for
the planning, operations and
maintenance of the tribes’ ma
jor infrastructure, buildings, fa
cilities and other physical assets.
No matter what the task
or the hour of the day, Herb
could always be depended
upon to rally his staff to meet
the challenge. One Christmas
Eve he worked along with
staff to repair a major break
in the mainline that served
the Warm Springs commu

dedication earned him uni
versal respect and apprecia
tion of the community.
His greatest passion in life
was outdoor sports and ac
tivities that included bird
hunting, fishing, hunting big
game, camping and support
ing family activities.
His w ork touched the
lives of virtually every per
son on and adjacent the res
ervation in some form or
fashion on an almost daily
basis. His care and willing
ness to help com m unity
residents was much appre
ciated and set a very high
stan d ard for how to re
spond to community inter
ests, needs and priorities.
