Cause of Sunnyside fire investigated
The cause of a grass fire last
Sunday in the Sunnyside neigh
borhood of Warm Springs is
under investigation. Police said
the fire seems to have started
in a group of trees between
Salmon Drive and Crestview.
At around 4:30 p.m., several
homes were evacuated as flames
came within eight feet of exte
rior walls.
As the fire slowly moved, the
wind continuously shifted posi
tion making it difficult to deter
mine where the flames would
travel next. Firefighters had the
Eel gatherers
blaze under control within one
hour.
There were no injuries or
structures lost in the fire, which
is estimated to have burned
about 25 acres.
