Girls team competes at
Class of the Field tourney
Madras Fligh School girls
basketball players competed
last week in the Twenty-
Fourth Annual Class of the
Field basketball tourney in
Oregon City.
The Madras team made it
to the semi-finals, after beat
ing teams from Sheldon and
then St. M ary’s. They lost
only to East Valley, which
eventually won the tourna
ment.
The Madras players were

Abby Scott, Inez Jones, Rosey
Suppah and Raylene Jones.
Summer tourneys

ing this summer in several na
tional NCAA sanctioned high
school girls basketball tour
naments throughout the U.S.
She plays for the nation
ally ranked Team Concept,
coached by Mike Abraham
of Portland. Tourneys will be
played in Las Vegas, Nash
ville, and Chicago.

an eight-week training program
focusing on running, biking and
core stren gth en in g for the
Fourth A nnual MAC D ash
Sprint Triathlon/Duathlon, set
for Sept. 10.
Rob N elson and Trevor
Groves, physical trainers, will be
leading these training sessions.
They will focus on providing
technical expertise and clinical
insight while promoting a fun
and socially oriented approach
accessible to all ability levels.
Morning and evening train
ing sessions will be offered on
weekdays and a full schedule will
be presented at registration.
The program is free and reg
istration will be on Tuesday, July
12 from 6-7 p.m. at Madras
Physical Therapy Group, located

The program is open to all
youth entering grades 4-6 for the
2011-2012 school year. Teams
will be forming in Madras. The
registration fee is $ 110 per
player. All protective equipment
is provided. The program begins
the week of August 22 and con
tinues through O ctober 23.
Teams will practice in Madras
and play games on Sunday af
ternoons mainly in Bend. For

Four Warm Springs teams at Little League District
The Oregon District 5 double
elimination tournament will be
held in The Dalles starting on
July 1, going through July 6.
Warm Springs Nation Little
League is sending four teams to
represent Warm Springs.
The Ju n io r Boys double
elimination tournament will be
held at Madras High School
starting July 9 through July 13.
