The Columbia River Tribes of Middle Oregon
signed the “Treaty of 1 8 5 5 ”

The year the treaty of 1855 was made law,
Franklin D. Pierce was the President of the
United States of America.

There was eleven of th head leaders of the
river people who signed the treaty paper in
front of General Joel Palmer (superintendent)

There are 139 headmen and delegaes of each
village who signed their “X ” mark on the
“Treaty of 1855 of Middle Oregon”

After the 1855 treaty was made law our
people accepted and included the Northern
Paiute people to be members of Warm Springs
Indian Reservation of Oregon. Since then we
are Federally Recognized as the Warm Springs
Confederated Tribes of Middle Oregon.
