son Home located on Wasco
street between the Family Re
source Center and Children’s
Protective Services.
In the summer of 2008 the
Club changed from being under
the Central Oregon Boys & Girls
Club (B&GC) to being orga
nized under the Confederated
Tribes of Warm Springs with
help from the Portland Area
B&GC to receive grants that
are specific to N ative B&G
Clubs.
The operating budget for the
club com es from several
sources: 42 percent is from the
Tribe, while the other 58 per
cent is from grants, member
ship fees, generous donations,
and fundraisers like the recent
Be G reat event.
The sun was shining on the
golfers, which made a perfect
day for the golf scramble. Fos
ter Kalama and Adriel Pineda
greeted guests with the beauti
ful sounds of their flutes.
Youth from the club signed
the Lord’s Prayer before the
meal. Kaiwin Clements also dis
played his hoop dancing skills for
a pleased crowd.
The event was able to raise
money through ticket sales, si
lent, and live auction items do
nated by businesses and individu
als.

attend could purchase raffle
tickets for a chance to win a very
large Easter basket. W inners
were delivered their baskets on
Easter morning.
The event in it’s second year
continues to improve and raise
the funds needed to operate the
growing Club year-round.
“Summer Programs will start
the day school is out,” says Club
Director June Smith. “Parents
have to work and we under
stand that there is a need.”

fiancée Trivia Parra and her
sons. Jermaine also had two

loved and cherished. He is
survived by many aunts and
uncles.

Bel Air Funeral Home in Ma-
dras, on April 8, 2011 at 5
p.m. for friends and family.

on railroad tracks, where it was

Nearly 3 years for fatal crash
(AP) — A Warm Springs man
was sentenced to nearly 3 years
in prison after pleading guilty to
criminally negligent homicide
and driving under the influence
of intoxicants in a January car
crash involving a train.
C larence Ray B ryant, 31,
pleaded guilty and was sentenced
last week in the death of one
