B&G Club fundraiser Saturday
The Second Annual Boys
& Girls Club fundraiser is
this Saturday, April 23 at
Kah-Nee-Ta High Desert
Resort and Casino.
All funds raised will go to­
ward operations at the Warm
Springs Boys and Girls Club.
Events include: Nine-hole
two-person golf scramble,
$25 per person, from 1-4
p.m. at the Kah-Nee-Ta Golf
Course.
Silent auction and cocktails
4:30-6 p.m.
Dinner, live auction and en­
tertainment, 6-8 p.m. Tickets are
$45 per person. The Warm
Springs Boys and Girls Club is
a recognized section 7871 non­
profit organization, and your
payment may be tax deductible.

A new grant opens the door
for those who have been out of
work.
Central Oregon’s Intergov­
ernmental Council’s On-the-job
Training Program was recently
granted $115,000 by the Ameri­
can Recovery and Reinvestment
Act to help people re-train in
new positions.
The On-the-job training pro­
gram allows employers to hire
someone and train them in new
areas.
The employee learns new
skills, and retains permanent
employment when the training
period has ended.

The Children’s Health Insur­
ance Program is hosting a kick­
off event this Wednesday, April
20 in Warm Springs.
The program kick-off—pro­
moting Healthy Kids for a
Healthy Oregon—will be from
10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Family
Resource Center.
Healthy Kid’s is a health cov­
erage program for all uninsured
Oregon kids and teens (under
19 years of age).
Representatives will be on
hand to help with the applica­
tion process and for recertifica­
coloring books, crayons, stick­
ers for the children. Vouchers
for Thriftway grocery store will
be given to parents who sign
their children up and remain cer­
tified for the Healthy Kids In­

Children’s Health Insurance
Program Reauthorization Act
(CHIPRA),
By June 2011, they hope to
sign 18 people to OJT contracts.
Currently, seven people are
working in on-the-job training
positions throughout the region.
The grant aims to help job
seekers in Jefferson, Crook, and
Deschutes County.
Jolene Marie Tufti,
Jolene Marie Tufti was
born on December 21, 1968
in Winnemucca, Nevada.
She passed away at her home
on April 8, 2011.
Jolene attended schools in
Madras and Warm Springs,
where her fellow classmates
remembered her for her con­
stant smile.
A lifetime resident of
Warm Springs, Jolene was a
homemaker.
She is survived by her par­
ents Earl and Shirley (Gov­
ernor) Tufti; her brothers:
1968 - 2011
Tyree Stormbringer of Albany;
Ferman Tufti of The Dalles;
and Timothy Wainanwit of
Warm Springs; sisters: Melinda
Burgess of Salem; Rebecca
Cruz of Canby; Natalie Burgess
of Prineville; Jessica, Earlene
and LeeAnn Tufti, all of
Warm Springs.
She was preeded in death
by her brothers William
Wainanwit Jr., Arnold Tufti
and Lonnie Wainanwit; and
her sister Priscilla Arthur.
Dressings ceremonies were
held on Tuesday, April 12,
2011 at the Agency
Longhouse.
Jolene was laid to rest on
Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at
Agency Cemetery.
