Family is the inspiration for wrestler
By Duran Bobb
April will be Child Abuse
Prevention Month, and
Children’s Protective Services

ages 2-18 to commemorate
the month.
The theme is “child abuse
prevention,” and the winner

Quentin Scott, 11, placed
third, 10 and under, 150 and
under, in the Tournament of
Champions at Salina, Kansas,
which is considered to be one
of the state’s biggest tourna
ments.
Quentin is the son of Jaime
Scott and Lace Frank.
His competition at the tour
nament was against a youth from
the western part of Kansas.
Quentin won in double over
time. He went into the semi-fi
nals and lost to the winner of
the bracket, his father said.
Quentin was then placed in
consolation side of the bracket.
From there, he won all of his
matches.
“This tournament is open to
all, so the better wrestlers travel
out of state just to get the expe
rience.”
Youth were present from
Nebraska, Colorado, Oklahoma
and Missouri.
He says his father and his
cowboy-side of his family are his
inspiration. Jaime was a wres
tler. So was his grandfather on
his mother’s side, Yahtin Frank.
So was Yahtin’s son.

to be just as tough as a cowboy,

Quentin’s mother is also a
huge inspiration to him, as she’s
working hard to show him the
importance of family and'edu

Lace graduates this spring
with a degree in business from
Haskell Indian Nations Univer

student and a coach of the
wrestling program.
Quentin remembers when, in
his words, his dad dumped him
off at wrestling practice one day.
“And I liked it! After that I just
wanted to do it.”
When he’s not wrestling,
Quentin likes video games, foot
ball and basketball.
“I think kids need to look for
a sport that fits their needs,” he
said. “Because of sports, 1 stay

started wrestling, so I still have
a lot to learn.”
