Residents of Warm Springs commemo
rated Veterans Day on Nov. 11 with a
variety of Native American warrior and
United States military traditions.
Dozens of local Native Americans have
lost their lives protecting the United
States and the liberty enjoyed by all who
live within its borders. Pictures of many
of these men and women hung on a
Longhouse wall as at least 200 residents
paid tribute after a ceremony in front of
the courthouse.
It has been nearly 150 years since the
Snake and Modoc wars, earlier events
where Native Americans fought bravely,
to the current Iraq and Afghanistan wars.
“Thank you for sacrificing your life so we
can have our freedom,” said Eliza Brown
