Bingo, dinner promote recycling

Recycling Project.
The evening will also feature

ing for a donation o f $5 per
person who attends.

ful and heartwarming exhibit
about the significance o f the
Native American baby’s first
home, the baby board.
The exhibit, called “Baby
Boards: Creation o f Beauty
through Love,” will be on dis
play from March 28-May 25.
The museum would like to
invite W arm Springs tribal
m em b ers to su b m it baby
boards, doll boards, images
and stories related to the sig
nificance o f baby boards.
Items can be for sale.
Applications are available
at the museum. The deadline
to submit items is 5 p.m. on

Farmers outline discrimination claims

— Plaintiffs in a class-action law
suit against the Agriculture D e
partm ent say the government's
own data show that American
Indian farmers lost hundreds o f
millions o f dollars as a result o f
lo an d is c rim in a tio n a t th e
agency.
The dollar estimate was de
veloped by an economist hired
as an expert witness in the case.
T he lawsuit, which could go
to trial later this year, was filed
in 1999 by Indian farm ers and
ranchers w ho say U SD A o f
fices tried to squeeze them out
o f business by denying them
loans that instead w ent to non-
Indians.
