Place for Kids offers after school activities
Kah-Nee-Ta donates to kids program
The Place for Kids is accept­
ing new members. Cost is just
$25 for the w hole 2008-09
school year.
Children always have fun at
the Place for Kids, said director
June Smith. Activities at the club
include arts and crafts, special
field trips, language lessons, out­
side activities and gameroom
tournaments. A snack is always
provided.
Each child will need a mem­
bership form and fee turned in
to attend the Place for Kids af­
ter-school program, which be­
gins Sept. 3.
The club is open Monday-
Friday, from after school until
6 p.m.
Come sign up at 1107 Wasco
Street, or call the club at 553-
3161.

Dillard, Garcia, Gifford and
Nambo presented their $50 win­
nings to June Smith, director of
A Place for Kids Club.
“We wish it could have been
more but we figured it could
help,” Nambo said.
A Place for Kids Club
opened after the local chap­
ter o f the Boys and Girls
Club closed last month for fi­
nancial reasons.
A Place for Kids Club pro­
vides daily activities, snacks
and fun to kids ages six to 18.

Family gatherings at Kah-Nee-Ta stables
Sanctuary will be hosting free
family gatherings on the first
Sunday of every month.
The event takes place from
6-7:30 p.m. at the stables at Kah-
Nee-Ta.
Families can attend for. free
round pen lessons, pony rides
and root beer floats.

Yakama Nation hosting alcohol recovery month activities
The Yakama Nation will
h o st A lcohol Recovery
Month activities in Septem­
ber. On Friday and Saturday,
Sept. 5-6, the nation will host
the Sixth Recovery M onth
Powwow at Toppenish.
O n Friday, Sept. 5, Grand
Entry will be at 7 p.m.
On Saturday, Sept. 6, Grand
Entry will be at 6 p.m. There
will be a potato dance, drawings,
musical chairs, hoop dance,
one-man hand, drum contest,
sobriety count-down. Clean
and sober campout is Sept.
5-6.

Biggs Bridge closure re-scheduled to begin Sept. 8
Full closure o f Biggs Bridge
has been re-scheduled to begin
on Monday, Sept. 8.
I Earlier, full closure had been
scheduled to begin on Sept. 3.
After Sept. 8, the bridge will
remain closed 24 hours a day,
seven days a week until Dec. 30.
For now, there is partial clo­
sure; of the bridge, The partial
closure is at nighttime, when a
single lane is closed and the open
lane controlled by flaggers at the
Biggs Bridge.
The partial closure is from
10 p.m. to 6 aun.j and will con­
tinue. through until the full clo­
sure date.

All buildings and homes
must display assigned ad­
dress numbers according to
standards set by the Con­
federated Tribes of Warm
Springs Land Services Office.
Numbers must be easily vis­
ible and legible for emergency
responders. Electrical service
w ill not be provided to ad-
dresses that do not meet
