W hy a H all o f Fame?

A Hall o f Fame should be
established to p erm anently
honor individuals who have par
ticipated in activities that are
identified here on the Warm
Springs Reservation.
There is a rich heritage that
our people have accomplished
over the many decades.
T he select few w ho are
elected for induction will repre
sent the very best the tribal
people recognize, and will bring
honor to themselves, their ac
tivity, and the Confederated
Tribes.
P erhaps each spring we
could select the candidates from
the activities that are eligible for
consideration and place their
names in our Hall o f Fame.
Plaques honoring each of the
inductees and their achieve
ments could be permanently
displayed at a location where
people could see them.
This would be something we
should start in the coming year
after some good discussion.
At the July 15 round table we
had three people attend. Benny
Heath, Gerald Smith and I were
there, and had a lively discus
sion on ideas and thoughts.
We w ent away w ith the
thought that we would look at
other tribes and organizations
with a hall o f fame in place.
We felt we could gather some
information that we could share
at an upcoming round-table dis
cussion.
