Clinic hoping for success with Health Plan applications
The Warm Springs Health
and Wellness Center has started
receiving Oregon Health Plan
Standard applications from the
“reservation list” enrollments
that began in late January.

Springs community members as
possible during the Jan.28-Feb.

Reservation list applications
were distributed to most Warm
Springs small businesses, Kah-
Nee-Ta High Desert Resort and
Casino, the Confederated Tribes
o f Warm Springs payroll depart
m ent and the Warm Springs
Forest Products.

and Wellness Center, attended
a monthly meeting in Salem with
the Department o f Human Ser
vices, where she learned o f an
other Oregon community that
registered all o f their eligible
patients for the “reservation
list,” and had the applications
sent to the local clinic to assure
that they were completed and
processed.
Ramsey realized that her out
reach methods were not produc
ing the com munity response
anticipated. She returned to the
Health and Wellness Center and
began entering all eligible pa
tie n ts w h o . currently had a

about 1,350 patients.

worked together to make sure
that all eligible patients were reg
istered before the Feb. 29 dead
line.
Thirty-eight Warm Springs
patients were selected to receive
an application in the month of
March and 36 were selected for
April. Once the application is
received the applicant has 30
days to return the completed
application to the Salem Oregon
Health Plan office.
Each applicant is allowed to
sign up all eligible household
members, ages 19-64, who have
no insurance or are under-in
sured, not currently pregnant,
and m eeting federal incom e
guidelines.

coming months, you will be con
tacted by MartiRai Ramsey to
come into the clinic to complete
your application. Be prepared to
provide copies o f your birth
certificate, tribal ID, state license

All children 18 and younger
are currently eligible, to apply for
the OHP Plus benefits. Children
can apply for the Oregon Health
Plan even if their parents are
not currently eligible. Parents can
come to the clinic to see Ramsey
or Rhonda Greene to complete
an appEcation for their children.

rial Scholarship fund.

students to stay the course in
their pursuit of higher edu
cation in the medical and
healthcare professions.
With $20,000 to give away
this year, the auxiliary consid
ers a wide variety of criteria
and n o t just grades alone
when determining who the
recipients will be.
The program is open to
residents in Jefferson County
and all of Warm Springs.
Part time students are now
eligible to apply if they are
taking a minimum o f 6 credit
hours.
