All the animals tried to think

from th e river, b u t he was so
big th at they were too afraid to
try. Even the bear was afraid o f
him. A t last the fly said he would
try to drive the m oose away.
All the animals laughed and
jeered. H o w co u ld a tiny fly
frighten a giant moose? The fly
said n othing, b u t th a t day, as
soon as the m oose appeared, he
w ent into action.
H e landed on the m o o se’s

m oose stam ped his foot, and

T h en the fly jum ped about
all over the moose, biting and
biting and biting until the moose

river, shaking his head, stam p

ing, b u t he couldn’t get rid o f
the pesky fly.
A t last the m oose fled from
the river, and didn’t com e back.
The fly was very proud, o f his
achievement, and boasted to the
other animals, “E ven the small
can fight the strong if they use
their brains to think.”
