Mikki Higgins, 1964-2007
Mikki Higgins o f ' Las Ve­
gas, Nevada made her final
■ passing from life’s journey in
this world to G o d ’s other
realm that is thought to be a
better place where there is no
hardship. This happened at
the University Medical Cen­
ter at Las Vegas, Nevada, on
O ctober 4 ,2007 due to com­
plications from head injuries
when she fell down and from
an aneurysm.
Mikki was bom Mikki G.
Schuster to Cleda Danzuka
Schuster and Elmer Schuster
on N ovem ber 19, 1964 at
Tbppenish, W ash., as the
third child o f four children.
During her early years, Mikki
lived in Seattle, her school
years began at Glenwood,
Wash. SKe then Moved to
Topperiish, where she gradu­
ated from high school in
1983.
Mikki continued her edu­
cation at Portland State Uni­
versity for two years before
finding employment at My-
P ro C h em ical C lean in g
Company, as part o f a sales
team that traveled the entire
U.S. selling industrial ¿lean­
ing chemicals to manufactur­
ers, businesses; any place
with large communal activités.
It was during her employ­
ment with Hy-Pro that she met
and w o rk ed w ith M ich a e l
Higgins. I t was a. fun-loving
job they both loved until that
part o f life ended. W hen the
work team disbanded, Mikki
and Mike always liked Las Ve­
gas and decided to make Las
Vegas their hom e. T h ey g o t
married and Mikki becam e a
cashier and M ike becam e a
card dealer. T heir family was
expanded by son D illo n on
May 2 ,1 9 9 3 .
Mikki formed a house clean­
ing company and cleaned pres­
tigious homes in the surround­
ing area. They then operated a
rug store for a while, sending
two rugs to their mother. Mikki’s
life centered around Dillon and
she stayed home m ost o f the
time. Mikki and Mike divorced
recently and shared their tmie
with Dillon, whom they both
loved very much. She leaves be­
hind a long lasting memory o f
herself for all those she came in
contact with. ;

Shawn M orford has joined
the team at the O SU Extension
o ffice as staff chair and 4-H
agent.
Morford is an extension edu- ’
cator specializing in forestry and
natural resources education and
educational program evaluation.
She succeeds Teresa Hogue,
who retired recently after a long ’,
career w ithfhe O SU Extension
Service working in administra-
tionas well as youth, family and
community development pro­
grams.
Originally from Michigan,
Morford moved to Oregon af­
ter studying natural resources.
Morford has extensive expe­
rience developing and delivering
natural resources^. E x te n s io n
educational program s and in
working with tribes in Canada

sues.
She spent several years with
the Forest Research Extension
Partnership (an Extension orga­
nization) in British. Columbia
ahd earlier in her career worked
for the O SU Extension Service
on 4-H youth development pro-
grams in Marion County.
She has experience working
in a variety o f community as­
pects, as well as working with
youth.
“ It’s not just about the youth,
it’s about working with the com-
m unity to su p p o rt y o u th ,”
Morford explained. “We’ll be
working with all the youth-serv­
ing organizations here.”

cational inform ation and pro­
grams in agriculture, livestock,
4-H youth developm ent and
family and community develop­
ment.
