The tree has since been gnawed down completely by what appear to be a beaver; this picture was taken a few days before the tree fell. The Spilyay Tymoo received a call from Roxanne Mclnturff, owner of Rainbow Market, about the tree, as she noticed it getting thinner at its trunk. Beavers often prefer to eat seaweed, clover and other herbaceous vegetation during warm weather, instead of the green bark (cambium) of trees. In areas with harsh winters, though, they normally need to prepare an underwater food cache of branches.
