Apologies
To the Warm Springs community, I am taking this time to

alcohol. I am glad nobody got hurt. Mark A. Stacona.
To the community of Warm Springs, I am writing an apol
ogy letter for driving under the influence of intoxicants on '
Feb. 21. And I am writing a letter of apology to the people I
ran into that night, while I was under the influence. I am sorry
for leaving the scene of the accident. It'll never happen again.
Ronald Thomas.
I am sincerely sorry for the choice that had made in Febru
ary 2004. That wrong choice has put me on the six-month
probation, community service and to attend drug awareness
classes. Time that isn't mine no more. Sorry. Melvin R. Scott.
Tribal members, just an apology for my actions that took
place on March 8, 2004. All I was trying to do was go home
after a disagreement with a "friend" and got turned in for
leaving his residence. I'm sorry to the res for my duii. Tina
Spino.
I was stopped for a DUII by officer Buren on March 7,
2004. Unfortunately, I was driving in West Hills, after drink
ing, and blew .12 bac. I am really sorry, cause I could have hit
someone or something. I am working on my problem I have.
Pldse accept my apology. Thank you. Rachel Winishut.
To the community of the Confederated Tribes of Warm
Springs, please accept this apology. To the very hard-working
and alert officers, this letter of apology is out to you fellas.
Please forgive this apologizer. Thanks. F. George.

I would like to apologize to officer Buren for my bad driv
ing on the night of Feb. 26, 2004. I was wrong for driving

To the people of Warm Springs I would like to apologize
to you for what happened at the gas station on April 23, 2004.

things like that on me. I would like to say that I'm sorry to the
reservation, and the gas station. Sincerely, Jennifer R. Smith.
I, Marcus J. Crowe, apologize to my mother, my family
and the Warm Springs community for my actions on June 9
at about 8:30. It was not right to come to my mother's house
to act like a fool. I ask for forgiveness from everyone I hurt
and I'm ashamed. MJC.
To the people of Warm Springs, to the people or person's
lives I have endangered, I am writing this letter of apology so
accept my apologies and I am taking full responsibility for my

Council: discussion touches on many topics
(Continued from page 1)
Randy Smith said, "We know
how our kids are treated at 509
J, and then to have them come
here and be treated the same way
is worse. We shouldn't perpetu
ate the haves and have-nots on
the reservation."
Chief Operations Officer
Lauraina Hintsala said, "These
are all good points. This is the
reason for having these meet
ings, to bring these issues to
Council as priorities."
Councilwoman Rita
Squiemphen said she would
work toward funding a program
that would serve kids who are
not in Summer Youth.
Councilman Reuben Henry
said that Kah-Nee-Ta may be a
place where kids who are not in
Summer Youth might find work
for the next few months.
Marcia Minthorn said the
tribes need to get going with a
new casino. The tribes need
money to take care of serious
problems on the reservation, she
said.
"The neighborhoods aren't
safe at night. We need to ban
drugs and alcohol from our
land. It's sad when we have chil
dren in jail, threatened with
prison, getting kicked out of
school," said Minthorn. "We
need to take care of this, it's not
our way."
During last week's General
Council meeting, tribal member
Margaret Buckland said she is
concerned about the tribal pen
sion fund. The money in this
fund should not be dealt with
riskily, she said.
Faye Waheneka said that the
tribal organization jobs need new
job descriptions. The current
ones, she said are obsolete.
She said the tribes also need
to focus on training young
people to join the workforce.
"Kids come to my house try
ing to sell stolen items," she said.
One time they waited until she
left and tried to sell the items to
Waheneka's mother. "She's 95
years old," said Waheneka.
She also said that the Senior
Citizen Program should be a
priority.
This was a point made ear
lier in the meeting by Charlotte
Herkshan.
Herkshan also commented
that the Council needs to have
more meetings with the mem
bership. There are general and
district meetings at budget time
but otherwise not very often,
said Herkshan.
Wilson Wewa commented
that he has heard a lot of talk
about the shortage of tribal rev
enue. He said that many problems
on the reservation will not be
solved just by having more
money. If you visit wealthy
tribes, said Wewa, you see that
just a few of the top people in
the organization get rich. Wewa
also said that Council and com
mittees should justify their travel
budgets.
