Big potential seen in road repair idea
Warm Springs Ventures and
Tectonics International have
reached an agreement to file
jointly for a grant from the U.S.
Department of Transportation.
If awarded, phase one of the
grant - called a Small Business
Innovation Research (SHIR)
grant - would be in the amount
, of $100,000. The second phase
! of the grant would be in the
amount of $750,000.
The specific purpose of the
grant is to develop a quick mo
bile repair system for the deliv
ery and application of fast-setting
Tectonitc Cement.
Tectonics International devel
oped this product primarily for
use in the repair of concrete
highways, bridges and other
structures.
The SHIR grant focuses on
the current needs of the national
highway system, and the chal
lenges involved in maintaining
over 600,000 bridge structures,
and over 160,000 miles of high
way, much of which is now over
20 years old and in need of re
pair and preservation.
The grant would cover the
cost to identify a solution as well
as the actual costs for a work
ing prototype model.
Warm Springs Ventures is the
venture capital investment and
business arm of the Confeder
ated Tribes. Tectonics Interna
tional, a private company, works
in agreement with the tribes and

The service station on Highway 26 recently changed from
a Texaco to a Shell Station. There is a much better credit
card system through Shell, explained Delford Johnson,
station owner. In the photo, the new Shell sign is put in
place above the station.
Warm Springs Composite
Products recently paid a divi
dend to the Confederated
Tribes of $250,000.
This is the second dividend
of $250,000 that Composite
Products has paid to the tribes
over the past couple months, for
a total of half a million dol

enterprise, produces Tectonite
Cement. The enterprise uses
the Tectonite as a component
in other products, such fire-resistant
doors.
The Composite Products
plant is located near the mill, and
employs 34 people.
The enterprise began about
Composite Products and the
tribes have a manufacturing
agreement with the research and
development company Tecton
