Tribal
Construction
shows profit
Warm Springs, the venture
capital investment and business
arm of the Confederated Tribes,
reported that the Warm Springs
Construction Enterprise showed
a modest profit in fiscal year
2003.
This reverses a consecutive
trend of past losses. Manage
ment control of the enterprise
was assumed by Ventures in
2002 to assist in bringing the
enterprise to profitability.
Thomas Henderson, chief
executive officer of Ventures,
said, "We are extremely pleased
with the progress of our new
est enterprise and our first full
year of involvement. We antici
pate this profit momentum to
continue in 2004. Many of the
decisions we made in 2003 were
very difficult for the staff. But
to their credit they managed
under some tough circum
stances and put the enterprise
into a profitable position."
The Seekseequa District
meeting also is scheduled for
Tuesday, March 2, at the vgcncy
Ixmghouse. The dinner is at 6
p.m. with the meeting to follow.
The Agency District meeting
is scheduled for Monday,
March 8, at the Agency
Longhouse. Dinner is at 6 p.m.
and the meeting is to start at 7
p.m.
The March 31 election will
. be at the polls, except for the
off-reservation voters. The bal
lots for the off-reservation vot
ers will be going out during the
first part of March, said
Madeline Qucahpama-Spino,
Vital Statistics director.
The Agency and Simnasho

merators at the meeting to take
down information.
The tribal census should be
done in March. This summer
the tribes will provide the data
to 1 IUD, and try to correct the
current estimate that I IUD uses
as the reservation population
count.
If the tribal census shows
more people than the U.S. Cen
sus has shown, then the tribes
will have available more hous
ing funds, as well as many other
types of funds. So it is very im
portant that as many people as
possible participate in the tribal
census.
Show up at the Feb. 26 meet
ing if you have any questions.

progress of the tribal census.)
