Spilyay Tymoo, Wai-m Springs, Oregon December 11, 2003 Page U Howlak Tichum Enos "Enie" I Enos Ivan Uerkshan Jr., age 60 vears old, a member of the Klamath Tribe and a resident of Warm Springs, died at Moun tain View I lospital in Madras on Wednesday, Nov. 26. Enos was born Sept. 17, 1943 in Fort Klamath Agency, as the youngest of two children to Enos Ivan and Elanor (Ellsworth) I lerkshan. He was raised in Chiloquin. I le attended school in Tucson, Arizona, Los Angeles, California and Gresham, Oregon. Enos joined the U. S. Marine Corps in 1961, and during his tour he served in Laos then Vietnam. I le received a Bronze Star, the Navy Unit Citation Award, two Purple Hearts and other distinguished military awards and was a member of the U.S. Marine Corps Shoot ingRifle Team. His last duty in the Marines was a P.M.I, which is Primary Marksman Instruc tor. He was discharged as a Staff Sergeant in 1972. While in Vietnam he served in the Is' Recon, lsl Marine Division. He returned to Warm Springs, and worked as a log ger, mill worker, and in forestry, rock crushing, and construction special projects. He was serving on the Board of Directors for van Herkshan, Jr. the Warm Springs Forest Prod ucts Industries. Mr. Herkshan held a lifetime position as "whipman" for the Northwest Indian eteran's As sociation. He enjoyed coaching youth basketball, rodeo and horse racing. In the most recent years he was dedicated to sup porting his grandchildren in sports activities, NASCAR, wres tling and Indian Head Casino. Survivors include his mate Charlotte Herkshan of Warm Springs, and five sons; Captain Moody (Winnona), Keith Moody (Nadine) of Simnasho; Enos Ivan "Guy" Herkshan (Veronica) of Vernal, Utah; twins Leevi (Danni) and Gun ner (Rosetta) Herkshan of Warm Springs; one daughter, Brandi Herkshan of Texas; one adopted daughter Kristina "Fred" Sampson of Lyle, Wash.; one sister Sarah Nelson of Redmond. Numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many adopted relatives and his adopted mother, Bernice Mitchell, adopted brothers Ken neth ScabbyRobe, Wilfred Yallup, Tony Washines and adopted sister Louise ScabbyRobe. Enos' grandchildren are Apologies On Nov. 11, 1 was pulled over on Campus for driving intoxicated, and would like to apologize to the rez for all the bad choices I've been making this year, for contributing to the delinquency of a minor, liquor violations and whatever else caused the police to be involved.
