community.
In the photo, Neda Wesley

Three Warriors
to mark milestone
Three X ardors Market in
beautiful downtown
Simnashoh is about to mark
a milestone.
The market will be cross
ing the impressive bench
mark of $2 million in sales
since the store opened in
January of 2000.
Store proprietor Captain
Moody estimated that the
landmark sale surpassing $2
million will happen some
time during the middle of
this month. He said the
store would provide a gift
bundle to the lucky customer
who makes the $2-million-milestone
purchase.
Not only is Three War
riors Market doing well in
sales, said Moody, but the
market also is a steady pro
vider of employment on the
reservation.
This is business and eco
nomic development on the
reservation at its best, he said.
Open nearly four years now,
Three Warriors serves as a
community base for
Simnasho.
The store has the regular
line of groceries, such as
bread, milk, fro2en dinners,
and juices. The store also of
fers Chester fried chicken.
Out front, the market of
fers some of the cheapest gas
around.

A thank you
Dear people,
For my family and the ones
who traveled so far to be here
at the Shaker Church for Bar
bara Bob's funeral, thanks for
the prayers and good words.
Jesse Jones asked me to talk at
the table. Sometimes it's hard to
express your feelings. Well, Bar
bara used to take me swimming,
plus she taught me how to
dance. Sometimes she would
wait for me to get out of school,
give me change by the campus.
She knew I like ice cream. I still
remember the happy times. So
maybe she had a temper, we all
know someone like that. Then
I lost my grandma - boy, that
hurt, and I realize how it hurts
to lose someone you care for,
family and friends.
One day I was in a store, and
a baby would smile and wave,
so happy, in line. When I was
outside I walked by the senior
bus some elders smiled and
waved. I waved back. I'm like
39. I think to myself I'm lucky
to make it this far. I'm going to
enjoy myself while I'm here.
Nobody's the same. I lost a sis
- tcr wheni sKc-wire small,! I lost
Gfimdpa 'Mac "when I'Was just
getting to know him. Friends,
family members, it hurts. Just
pray for them. Remember the
happy times, like the baby with
a full life waiting, and the elders
who are lucky there are still
smiling and waving. That made
me happy to see them, and you
know Barbara had a good long
life. Maybe sometimes it was
hard. Everyone has it tough
sometimes. We just have to keep
trying like Barbara. She kept
praying, going to church in her
wheelchair. To the ones who
made the long trip, Squiemphens
from Washington, and
everyone's speakings and
prayers, it was nice to see you
at church.

Apology
To Thelma Dickson,
I'm so sorry for what I did
to you. I'm sorry for assaulting
you Oct. 22, when I was intoxi
cated. I didn't want this to hap
pen to you. I'm ashamed of
myself for what I did to you.
I'm sorry, honey.

Apology
I am writing this letter of
apology to the whole reserva
tion and specifically to Carolyn
Owihee at the BIA. On Octo
ber 9 I was upset at the BIA
' arid1 IHS' bureaucracy because 1
one otmyGbD classeV'was in
conflict with my IHS 'doctor's
appointment. The BIA told me
that I could not miss a GED
class. They said I should resched
ule my IHS doctor's appoint
ment. However, the IHS told
me that a rescheduled doctor's
appointment would take me
another two and a half months.
I thought that the BIA case
worker would cut me off of my
general assistance grant. I was
really stressed out about this,
and I started yelling and cussing
at the BIA office at the Tribal
Administration building, and this
was specifically directed to
Carolyn, who was not my case
worker. Carolyn was just trying
to help me. I was cited for dis-'
orderly conduct, and I pled
guilty to disorderly conduct at
my arraignment. I have never
been charged with disorderly
conduct before, and I am sorry
for any "hurt feelings" or dis
comfort caused by my outburst.
I especially want to apologize to
Carolyn Owihee, I am sorry.
Thank you. Very truly yours,
Tim Tumbaga
Language
Niix pachwai. I would like to
thank Mrs. Rhoan for all her
time in teaching me some of the
Warm Springs language. I am
most grategul for those six
months. I remember her saying,
"There's Ace' rny faithful' stu-
dent." I was embarrassed at first
but I was there to learn and learn
I did. I hope my three children
there in Springs also learn their
language. Once again, thank you
Mrs. Rhoan.
Speaking of children, there's
got to be some other way to help
our youth. During my incarcera
tion, I've seen kids go in and out
and back again only with longer
sentences. Why? This is institu
tionalizing these kids. When I
was there the food budget was
$800 to f 850 per week. I know
because I used to order the
food. There is not even any
clothes for the inmates. All the
money for corrections, most of
it went to the patrol side. I was
trustee for seven months. I
knew what went on.
We should try to do things to
help all the people, not just
Paiute, Wasco or Warm Springs.
