(Continued from page 1)
Also, they said, Patt has
strong political relationships with
other tribal leaders, governors,
landowners and members of
Congress.
Patt was elected to Tribal
Council in 1998, and re-elected
in 2001. 1 le has served as Coun
cil chairman during that time.
He said his intention was not to
seek a third term. Instead, he
intended next year to return
fulltime to his position as the
Confederated Tribes Natural
Resources Branch senior policy
advisor. However, he said, the
CRITFC executive directorship
is a natural step up from that
job.
He said that he will make no
sweeping changes at the com
mission: "The course was
charted many years ago by the
council members of the four
tribes that formed CRITFC," he
said.

In looking to the future at

likely that the biological or legal
landscape will change anytime
soon."
But, he said, "One issue that
encompasses a lot of challenges
we have is the renogiation of
the Columbia River Fish Man
agement Plan, including harvest
of course, but also production
and rebuilding commitments."
Besides his work on the
Tribal Council, Patt is a mem

the Museum at Warm Springs,
and has served as a member of
the Kah-Nee-Ta board of direc

Plenty of rodeo action at Xygh dge
By Sid Miller
Spilyaj Publisher Emeritus
The Tygh Ridge Rodeo was
held on May 10-11, and drew
cowboys from all parts of the
Northwest. The weather was
ideal rodeo weather, and the fans
had a good day at the show. Very
good rodeo stock was provided
by Phil Fillibin, which gave the
cowboys all they could handle
in the rough stock events. There
were some good times turned in
by contestants in the timed
events.
The events included saddle
bronc, bareback, bull riding, se
nior barrels, breakaway roping,
tie-down roping (calf roping),
team roping, wild horse race,
steer wrestling, cow milking and
century team roping.
Canning course
There will be a pressure
canning salmon course on
Wednesday, June 4, from 2
to 5 p.m. at the 4-H kitchen,
