TAe Simnasho Longhouse was the scene earlier this month of
the 26th Annual Lincoln's Birthday Powwow. The Masters of
Ceremony this year were Charles Tailfeathers and Anson Begay,
who are pictured above.
On Friday night of this year's Lincoln's Birthday Powwow, the
powwow committee honored Anna Clements and her husband
Rudy for their many years of helping with the event. The
Clements now serve as advisors to the committee members.
The powwow this year also featured a good
number of Native drum groups. "Half of the
dance area was drums. It was great," said
Anna. One of the drum groups - from
Saskatchewan, Canada - recorded an album
during the powwow.
Featured on these pages are photographs
taken on Saturday afternoon, Feb. 8, at the
Simnasho Longhouse. Powwow results will be
in the next edition of the paper.
