Happy belated birthday to

I thought of a question,
when I first saw her face. What
does she think of, as she looks
into space, the sky is so endless,
unbroken it seems, what does
this lady envision in dreams.
She looked so down and out
in this place, I could see the de
pression from the look on her
face. We tried playing cards, yet
just for a while, she didn't know
how, but she broke with a smile.
Laughing,' joking, we had a

think of you when you leave
this place. Hoping, praying that
youwill be safe. I met a fine
lady, oh yes indeed, and I'm glad

Bowling tourney a great success
By Austin Greene
The 2002 Warm Springs In
dian Holiday Bowling Tourna
ment was a tremendous success
again, with Native American
bowlers from throughout Indian
Country coming to the tourna
ment to participate, compete
socialize and just to be with
friends.
With origins in the Pelton
Lanes (now Madras Bowl), the
tournament has now outgrown
the local alley's, and now is be
ing held at Lava Lanes in Bend.
We are now able to accommo
date all the visiting and local
bowlers.
The second year in a row the
tournament witnessed a perfect
300 game being bowled at the
tournament.
This year we would like to
congratulate Renee Steele of
Carson City, Nev., for a fantas
tic game of 300. Many other
bowlers had outstanding games
throughout the weekend. '
The success of the tourna
ment can be contributed to our
many sponsors and the tourna
the family and giving a few
words. Many friends came for
the services afterwards, family
members. I was really proud of
my niece Tia Bean (Baby), Aldo
Garcia, Phillip Jake Johns
(Baby), Stacy Scott Johns, for
being there for their mom. We
were really happy to see many
of the elders being there to sup
port the family.
The families would like to
thank everyone for coming and
being there and the friends of
Patches who played pool with
her for many years. The pool
players came from the Women's
, Pool League to represent their
league, and talked about Rita
Patches. A special thank you to
Jon Culpus for the platters and
