Their message is an important one, expressed in clear, direct and simple language. From Juanita's cover letter: , Dear Spilyay Tymoo, Thank you so much for printing our letters in your newspaper. We wanted to let our people know how much we love and think about our land and our home. Our students in ERC, at Warm Springs Elementary, tried to express their concern the best way they knew how in writing. They also have pictures of our environment on our bulletin board at school. Come check it out. Let's all remember to try to clean up our land by keeping our homes and community clean. Let us all show a good example to our kids. They want to learn what is good and best for the better of our world and community. Thank you. From Leonard: Dear People of Warm Springs, I would like to clean the world. I would clean the windows, wash dishes and sweep. Then I will pick up trash outdoors and I will clean the center and I will clean the school and I will help Dennis and I will help Wanead work and help her with class and I will clean my house with my Grandma. And I will clean cars for people. Thank you very much. From Raymond: Dear People of Warm Springs, I want better air to breathe and clean land for our people. I hope everyone will read our newspaper because we need help to clean our land so we won't step on glass. Thank you very much. From Desmond: Dear People of Warm Springs, Please pick up the trash! So the world can be clean, please don't throw trash on the ground. Trash goes in the garbage can. Recycle your cans and bottles! From William: Dear People of Warm Springs, Clean up the world. Don't throw trash out of our car windows. Use a litter bag. Trash looks ugly. Thank you. Box 234, Burns, OR 97720 God still moving To the editor, "Afterward he appeared to the eleven as they sat at meat, and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen him after he was risen. And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptised shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that be lieve: In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them, they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. " Mark 16:14-18 As we sat at a recent meeting, I marveled at the preacher that was speaking on how they've been serving the Lord since 1956, how God used to move, do miracles etc And how they were waiting for God to move Hello from Pastor Rick, I just had a great truth come to me. After . eating a great meal at Senior Lunch, I real ized that my. large size is due to the great cooks at the Senior Center, at the Longhouscs, and at church. Also, my wife is a great cook. And, Hey, my mom is a great cook. So, you see it is a great conspiracy of cooks who keep me plump. Wow, how was that for denial? One program that I cannot deny is the work going on at the Boys and Girls Club at the center. There are a lot of kids down at the center. Have vou as an adult gone down again like He did 40 years ago. For people who say these things I don't know where they've been the last 40 years but the God 1 know is still alive. In the meetings we've at tended so far this year, cancer has fallen off of a child's face, angels were seen minister ing among the congregation, angels were heard singing with the saints, gold dust was seen flying off of God's anointed as they walked in through the door and many other God related testimonies were given. I low children can sec the very realm of angelic hosts all around. In my lifetime how the dead arc raised to life again. Mow that in a meeting with 6,000 Native Americans, the first night at an altar call, 2,000 came for-, ward to receive Jesus Christ, the next night 3,000 came. How God moved in that meet ing! The sick recovered their health, the blind to sec, demons coming out, alcohol ics and drug addicts set free. "And my sptech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: That jour faith should not stand in the wisdom of man, hut in the power of the God" I Cur. 2:4,5 Our God is not dead but is alive and still working miracles as He was back then. Maranatha, Easton & Tina Aguilar T-ball team was great To the editor, I would like to take this time to publicly say thank-you to the kids of the Rat Pac Tigers T-ball team for your diligent effort in making it to practice and games. You have all been very good listeners and those few players who got plugged by the ball, or learned that while holding the bat and you do have to swing at the same time, or missed the ball, you have to go get the ball and throw it home (remember?) or dropped. the ball when you thought you caught it, dis covered when you threw your bat you are really out, that it wasn't a joke when you were told you're out, and found out you re ally have to run all the bases, all learned what T-ball is all about!! Yeah. Thank you. Thank you!!! Also, with all the fanfare of the children paying their fees, in addition to late fee's, just to play. It was a disappointing to learn that our uniforms did not have the Rat Pac name on the hats or shirts. We ended up with some left over jerseys and hats. The kids and my self appreciated being the Tigers since we didn't have much of a choice anyway. I did receive some complaints from parents about the shirts being ripped in the sleeve and neck area. ("We paid our fees and late fees to have my child receive some dheap shirt.") Any how, moving right along. There are just three T-ball teams in Warm Springs National T-ball Association. We had fun playing the ECE Club and Rocky Slammers. Thanks to Sue Matters and Sky and Soap Katchia for being a coach and sup porting our youth. During games, coaches all got surprised by some players and just had a good laugh at some of the crazy scenes. But on my behalf, I really did see funda mentals improvement and that the kids learned to laugh at themselves and that it really is just a game for fun and learning. The following kids are the TigersRat Pac Team: Rosey Suppah, Kapri Moody, Arlene David, Sal Robinson, Sasha Robinson, Chanda Robinson, Kecia Florendo, Pickles Crawford, Trent Heath, Hamley Danzuka, Matt Clements, April Rose Berry, Billy Berry, Ada Lopez, Aaron Colwash, and Leah Bates. Sarahlee McCormack, Tashina George, and Charmayne Billey even came out and tried their luck. They did a good job and I hope all of you continue to play sports. Best of luck in your next sport season. Respectfully submitted, Coach Lucy Suppah Museum raffle winners To the editor, The Museum At Warm Springs is pleased to announce the winner's of the Arts & Crafts raffle. The Presbyterian Church has what it is called "The Bxk of Confessions." I lere is a question. What is the chief and highest end of people? What is our purpose in life? An swer: People's chief and highest end is to glorify God, and fully to enjoy the Lord for ever. So, now you know why you get out of bed in the morning. Thank you for participating in this event. Sincerely, The Staff Vote was a repeat To the editor, Over the past one and half years or so I have heard many complaints about how the tribe was being run and where we were headed. A lot of people were not happy with the Council or SecretaryTreasurer. If we were not happy with the way things were being run, why did we vote the same people into Council? Why did we choose the same SecretaryTreasurer? I do not foresee any change or changes for the better with the Council we voted in. We were not satisfied with the last three years and I do not think we will be satisfied with the next three years. We have the power to vote and all we did was vote for a repeat of the last three years, why? Nikki Courtney Tribal Member Respect is source of rewards To the editor, , There are many concerns about our res ervation; unfortunately, most are misguided. F'irst of all, this reservation owes no one anything. We are supposed to respect all liv ing things including the earth, rocks, and streams. This isn't true. Money is the issue, mainly. If used properly, money is a friend, but misused, it is not a friend. Hard work is the answer. Our ancestors used all the bounties that nature had to of fer and with reverence and respect. There are very few that practice the old ways and use visions that help both men and nature. Where were all you that cry for more money, when our forest were being over harvested, our streams polluted, our streams depleted of the salmon, our countryside lit tered with old car bodies and garbage, where the hell were you when it really counted? Respect this earth, protect it, and nur ture it, this is where the rewards come from. Terry Courtney Jr. Thanks for support To the editor, The Victims of Crime Services staff would like to take this time to thank all those who helped in the success of this year's do mestic violence walk and barbecue in honor of the national crime victims rights week, April 22-28, 2001. A special heart-felt thank you to: 1. Kennedy Smith for all his hard work in setting up and preparation for the meal. Thank you to those who made the signs, the potato salad, and picked up the groceries. 2. The Indian Head Casino for their generous Bonation of the pop and spring water. ' 3. The Warm Springs Power Enter prise for providing the main course Ham burgers and hotdogs. 4. The Warm Springs Tribal Police Department for providing the escort, active participation and support for VOCS; and 5. To KWSO for their on-going sup port via advertising and psa's. Also, a very special thank you to our chefs Pastor Rick, Tracy Graybael, and Chris Elliott. This year's walk featured nearly 60 par ticipants (a special thank you to each of you for your support), with several carrying signs displaying various strong messages support ing "Stop the Silence, Report the Violence." Again, thank you from the Victims of Crime Services Staff. Marie, Toni, Renee and Gloria will have a potluck after church. Our prayers to all who graduated from school this year. May someone hug you. And, hey hug some one you love. Hug someone you dislike. No alcohol or tobacco for children. One day at a time. Buckle up the kids and your selves. Don't hit or beat on yourself. Pay your bills before gambling, then stay home. Read the Bible for its effect on your heart Pray to God to the point of your hearing Him. Honor someone. Love yourself. Like yourself. See you in church. Pastor Rick R. Ribiero, Warm Springs Presbyterian Church
