Demolition Derby
set for June 18
The Bend Lions Club announces
its 30th Annual Demolition Derby to
be held on Father's Day, June 18,
2000 at the Deschutes County Fair
Grounds in Redmond. Come and see
the newest Derby Cars and the best
drivers compete. Admission is $8 for
adults and $4 for children under 12
years of age (children under 6 years,
free). Gates open at Eleven a.m. and
the action starts at 1 p.m. In addition
to the regular derby cars, a special '
mid-size car event and small car event
will also be included. A special
half-time event will include a draw
ing for a gas barbecue, a bmx bike
and a DVD player (must be present
to win). Over $4000 in prize money
plus trophies' will be awarded.
Projects from the Demolition Derby
all go back to the public by way of
vision and hearing help for the needy
and youth projects in the community.

Pi-Ume-Sha Fun Run on tap
The Warm Springs Community Wellness Center-Recreation Department is cordially
inviting you to participate in the 2000 Pi-Ume-Sha Fun Run held on June 24, 2000 at the
Tribal Housing Building. Registration will begin at 8:00 a.m. and all races will begin at
9:00 a.m.
10K Course: Out and back course on pavement with rolling hills with three water stations.
5K Course: Out and back course with 1 water station at turnaround point.
Registration: Pre-registration-$8.00; Day of Race-$10:00
DivisionAge Groups: Male and Female-13 & under, 14-18 years, 19-29 years, 30-39
years, 40-49 years, 50 & over.
Awards: There will be T-shirts available to each participant. Awards to overall winners in

Bonneville Pool sturgeon setline
season closure June 7, 2000. The
Compact states of Oregon and
Washington agreed with the Co
lumbia River treaty tribes to close
the sturgeon setline fishery in the
Bonneville pool effective 6 p.m. on
June 10, 200. The catch in Bonneville
pool is approaching the harvest
guideline of 1 ,300 sturgeon. The John
Day Pool setline fishery remainsopen
until July 31.
John Day Pool Setline Season:
Remains open. Only setline gear may
be used. The fishery will close at 6
p.m. on Monday. July 3 1 or w hen the
catch guideline of 1.160 in the John
Day poll is reached.
Area: John Day Pool only.
Bonneville and The Dalles pools are
closed.
Restrictions: Hook size must be
90 or larger. Tribal fishers are en
couraged to use circle-hooks and
avoid J-hooks. All river mouth and
dam sanctuaries remain in effect.
Allowable sales: The allowed
sales during the John Day Pool setline
season w ill be restricted to sturgeon.
Chinook and steelhead may not be
sold.
Sturgeon size limit: Sturgeon be
tween 4 feet and 5 feet in length may
be sold commercially or kept for
subsistence.
Sturgeon catch guidelines: The
sturgeons catch guideline for John
Day Pool remains at 1,160 sturgeon.
The estimated sturgeon harvest
through June 4 in John Day Pool is
392, leaving approximately 770
sturgeon available for harvest in 800
in John Day pool.
Scaffold Fishery: The scaffold
fishery remains open for subsistence
use.
