Sponsored by the Healthy Nations Department White Buffaloes top LaSalle Falcons 35-32 The Madras WhiteBuffaloes win their last game of the season on their home turf, beating the LaSalle Fal cons 35-32, on Nov. 5,1999. Early in the game the LaSalle Falcons were on the move, march ing right down field and a score was for sure when they passed for a good gainer which was fumbled and Kevin Richards covered the ball for the Buffaloes, stopping the Falcon drive. The Buffs take over on the ball and it appeared the Falcon defense was keying in on Keller Christensen, when he took the ball as if he was going to make a sweep and stopped suddenly to throw a pass to Jason Zarate which covered 52 yards and the first touchdown. Zarate was so wide open you could have driven two 1 8 wheeler rigs though with out any trouble. For the PAT Christensen ran the ball in to make the score Buffaloes 8, the LaSalle Falcons 0. After the Madras kick the Fal cons were unable to get the first down and went into punt formation when Jake Jaca broke through and blocked the punt and James Adams took it down to the 2 yard line for the first and goal and it wasn't long until Quarterback Colter Barnes punched the ball in on a QB keeper. Zarate's kick was good and the Buff were in the lead 15-0, as the first quarter expires, In the second quarter the Buffs strike again, this time on a 45 yard pass from Barnes to David White where he took the pass on the 10 yard line and was immediately hit by two Falcon defenders but with his strong effort and determination he carried the two defenders into the end zone for the score, and with Zarates kick good the Buffaloes were ahead 22-0 at that point The LaSalle Falcons battle back to get on the score board as they scored on a 6 yard pass form QB Hanks, but a try for two points failed leaving the score 22-6, at this point. The Buffs score once again this time on a 1 1 yard pass from Barnes toJakeJaca, tmstimethekickfailed leaving the score 28-6, midway through the second quarter. The Falcons make a drive down field and finally score on a 15 yard pass from Hanks to scrutton, again the try for two points failed as they tried to run the ball in for the PAT. The two teams played head to head until the first hah0 came to a close with the score Madras 28, LaSalle 12. At this point many thoughts went back to the Bums game earlier in the season where the Buffs were ahead and many thought they had the game all sewed up but losing at the end. Well the Falcons almost repeated the same situation in the second half as they out scored the Buffs 20-7 in the final half of the game, but their missed PATs were the key for the Buff win. In the third quarter Barnes hit Jaca on a 4 yard pass and Zarates kick was good to make the score 35 18attheendof the third quarter. The injury riddled Buffs held on to win the game as the Falcons scored two touchdowns in the final quarterclos ing with in three points. Their score came on a7 yard pass from Hanks to Scrutton and again a try for two failed. Their final score came from a Hanks pass to Scrutton. A pass try to Scrutton failed again leaving the score the Buffs 35 and the LaSalle Falcons 32, when the time ran out giving the Buffaloes the win on a rainy night . A great win for the Madras Seniors who played their final game on the Buff Grid Iron.
