Young MclntunTs steer sold at $3 per pound Saturday, Juty 24

Extension Agent Robert Pawelek, Madras FFA
student James Mclnturff is the first participant from
Warm Springs to enter a champion steer in the
Jefferson County Fair. Mclnturff is the 15-year-old
son of Roxanne Mclnturff.
The steer is a Maine-Anjou cross and weighted at
; 1,360 lbs. Malnturff 's steer took 2nd place in the
: Heavy weight, and 1st in his class. Steer judging was
held July 21, 1999. The steer was purchased by
Madras Double Press Inc. during the Jefferson
County Fair Auction Saturday evening, July 24.
3 Mclnturff 's steer sold at $3 per pound.

, for shipment and delivers to feedlots in Japan
Giving Mclnturff a hug, Mickey Brunoe said, "I'm so
proud of my grandson. He raised the animal all by
himself with little help."
Brunoe said his grandson didn't give up, instead he
kept up with his project and believed in himself. "He
was persistent and he dedicated many hours to this
animal. The whole family is so proud and happy for
him."
