On a recap for the last 3 months, We have had some f' great tournament play here at Kah- Nee-Ta Resort. For the opener of the Mtw season, we had tne springer Invitational start it all off this year. Moreover, as always the well known couples tournament the TP Chapman was a great success with the Holts dominating A flight division with a 2-day total of 145. Some of our local players also did well during the 2 day event. Kelly Wetchner and Carol Conner tied for 1st Net with a 128 while Keiki Rauschenburg and Verna Conner took 4th Net with a 1 39 in the B division. In the C division Jake Coochise and Janell Smith tied for first gross with a 185 and Les and Madeline Spino took third net with a 137. Congratulations to all of our local players. , Elections of Officers were held this past spring with the presidency assigned to Butch David, Verna Conner as VP, Janell Smith as the secretary and Gary "Doc" Whittle as the OGA Director. We would like to thank our previous officers for the dedication and time they contributed to the Golf association in the past 2 years. Mr. Alley David as president, Mr. Benny Heath as VP and OGA Director, Carol Conner as secretary and Shanuna Quehapama as ladies OGA director. Mahalo to all our brothers & sisters. Rodeo Associati6n to celebrate it's "Silver Anniversery" Warm Springs Rodeo Associa tion in Warm Springs, Oregon is cel ebrating its "Silver Anniversary" with the 25th annual all-Indian Rodeo June 26-27, at 1 :00 PM daily. This Rodeo event will be multi-sanctioned. Livestock contractor will be Tygh Ridge Rodeo Company and an nouncer is Jake Grossmiller. Rodeo events will include Saddle Bronc, Bareback, Bull Riding, Calf Roping, Steer Wrestling, Sr. Barrel Race, Ladies Breakaway, Team Roping, (Enter twice, 2 loops), Century Team Roping, (enter twice, 2 loops, combined age of 100), Wild Horse Race, (Indian teams, only) Jr. Barrel Race, (12 years and under). Slack, if necessary, will be held Saturday after the show. If there are nol enough contestants to fill an event, the event will be cancelled. Books open Wednesday, June 16, and close June 18. For information on other activi- Relay for Life set for July 17-18 in Madras A unique fundraiser- the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life- is coming to Madias in July. The fundraiser lakes place from 10 in the morning on Saturday. July 1 7, until 10 the following morning. Relay For Life participants organize in teams of 8 lo 1 2 people, who take turns traveling around the quarter-mile track at Madras High School, relay-style lor a lull 24 hours. Teams from businesses, churches, civic groups and families join the fun of the overnight cainpout, enjoying food, entertainment, games and the camaraderie that comes from supporting a gcxnl cause. Each team member is asked to raise $100 in sponsorship money to participate in the event, and those who raise money w ill earn prizes. Team members lake turns walking, running, dancing or skippingaround the track throughout the day and night. This is an event for athletic and non-athletic individuals alike. . The funds arc for the American Cancer Society, and will support education and patient services in Jefferson County, and cancer research elsewhere in Oregon. On Saturday, all day long, to keep people busy and having fun, there will he activities like volleyball, a scavenger hunt, a tent decorating contest, lap poker early in the morning hours, live music, children's activities, the limbo and more. As night falls, luminaries surrounding the track arc lit lo honor the hrave survivors and loved ones we've lost in the battle. Relay For Life asks for a $5 donation fir each Pi-Ume-Sha Fun Run is on June 26 The Warm Springs Community Wellness, Center-Recreation Department is cordially inviting you to participate in the 1999 Pi-ume-sha Fun Run held on June 26, 1999 at the Tribal Administration building. Registration will begin at 8 a.m. and all races will begin at 9 a.m. There will be a 10k Course: Out and back course on pavement with rolling hills with 3 water stations. There is also a 5k Course: Out and back course with 1 water station at turn around point.
