W W "1 r r' ' cr ZLZ3 Canned Food Drive Poker WalkRun a success Alaina Johnson, Selena Boise and Jackson were winners for noon and 1:00 walkrun. The Canned Food Drive Committee held a Canned Food Drive Poker WalkRun during the noon lunch hour and at 1:00 p.m. Winners were Selena and Jackson Boise for the Noon Walk and Fourth Grader Alaina Johnson for the 1:00 walk. Selena and Jackson received a Kah-Nee-Ta Gift Certificate and Alaina received Rose Garden Tickets. In attendance were 360 Elementary School students, parents and staff, 65 Early Childhood children, parents and staff, 31 lunch hour participants, staff and volunteers, making the total 456. The food drive committee would like to extend their gratitude towards all the volunteers-Agnes Lawrence, Lena Ike, Mary Stewart, Nitanna Knouff, Austin Greene, James Greene, Kendrick Arthur. Also the sponsors-Tribal Management, Kah-Nee-Ta Vacation Resort and most importantly all the kids and parents for teaching the importance of helping others in need by donating those 450 canned food items. The Adamses have been named the specialty act of the year in the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association, most recently in 1 997. The opportunity to work the rodeo in Toppenish wilLbe a home. Review coming for Vicki, who is a Washington native. Vicki was an alternate Miss Indian America, representing her mother's tribe, the Yakama nation. She was also the Northwest Indian barrel racing champion for many years. Vicki is famous for her renowned dancing horses, well know as a trick and roman rider, and as a trainer of outstanding show and barrel racing hopes. The cost for the event prior to April 10, is $10.00 with a shirt and $5.00 without a shirt. For those paying for a shirt please specify the size you wish to have. On the day of the race the cost is $12 with a shirt. On the day of the event registration Bowling tournament coming soon will be at the Kah-Nee-Ta village front gate starting at 8:00a.m. The 14.5 begins at 9:00 a.m. The shuttle bus will depart from the village front gate at 8:30a.m. The 10k begins at 10:00a.m. For more information you can contact the Recreation department 553-3243. The Metro-Phoenix 2nd Annual Tash O'Otham Desert Bowling Classic Tournament will be held on March 27 and 28, 1999, at Kyrene Lanes in Chandler, Arizona. All mail-in entries must be submitted with cashier's check or money order postmarked no later than March 12, 1999. This is a "house" request to guarantee lanes based on number of entries received. Events included on Saturday are the Mixed team event. The cost is $64.00 per team. Squad times are 11:00am, 2:00pm and 5:00p.m. Saturday night the Masters competition will go on and it costs $25.00 to enter. Squad time is at 7:30p.m. Sunday is Mixed Doubles and Singles. Rough Stock School held in Tygh Ridge The Rough Stock School will be held on April 30, May 1 & 2, 1999. It will take place at Tygh Ridge arena, Dufar, OR (south of the Dalles on Highway 197). In attendance for the Broncs will be J.L. Schaffer who is the Columbia River Circuit Champ and Rookie of the Year. For the Bulls is Guy Bob Waite who brings over 12 years of experience with him. Bullfighters will be instructed Dan Newman who nnrtirinatpH in C.R.C. Finals in 96 & 97. Bareback riders will get the chance to be entertained by John Hammack, who has over 25 years experience and is a 5 time O.R.A. Champion. The school is only taking a limited number of students. Swim lessons offered at Kah-Nee-Ta The Kah-Nee-Ta Resort is offering swim lessons for children of all ages. The lessons are being given by Red Cross Certified Instructors. They will begin on April 3 and will last until April 27. There will only be eight classes. The classes are on Tuesdays at 4:30 and on Saturdays at 1:00. The cost is $25 per child.
