The Madras girls gave it a real battle for three quarters and were always with-in reach to take the lead, but faltered in the final minutes of the final quarter. They were just two points away from the lead with just a few minutes to the end of the game but were unable to get things going and the wildcats won the game at the foul line as Jill Noe was 5 of 6 at the foul line and Sara Arzie was 3 of 4 also at the free throw line which made the big difference in the scorings as the final buzzer sounded., Marie Kalama did manage to pop in a three pointer in the final stanza, but what the Buffs needed was more of those three pointers at that time. CeCe Polk was held to five points as compared to her 26 points just a few nights before when the Buffs knocked out the Valley Catholic lady Valliants from further play. CeCe did manage to drop one three pointer early in the game but after that they stuck to her like flies on a paper to keep her from unloading the big bombs. Marie Kalama led the Buff attack with 12 points. She managed to get two three point goals in the game. Deece Suppah played an outstanding game on defense and getting rebounds as she was busy all over the floor all evening long. No matter where the ball popped up and the whistle blew Deece was usually around and had something to do with tying up the opponent for a jump ball. Heather Klos was another one who had a great game on defense although she didn't score as much but did have a real good defensive game. Melanie Smith the small guard kept the pressure on the defensive unit with her quickness but she did foul out late in the game. Nicole Main came in off the bench and made a good showing for her self mainly on the defensive side and ball handling for the Buffs. The freshmen girl did manage to get three of four at the foul line and will be back next year. Blanch Mitchell who alternated with Smith done a good job while she played although she didn't score she made her mark on defense and was called for three fouls. Reina Estimo played her share of the game but the Wild Cats had the Buffs number and held off a determined Buff team to win 47-35. The No. 3, seed of the Tri-Valley (Madras) will travel to play the No.2 seed of the Capitol league (Central) on their home floor, March 6, 1999. Scoring for the Buffs: Marie Kalama 12, Deece Suppah 9, CeCe Polk 5, Melanie Smith 3, Heather Klos 3, and Nicole Main 3, Blanch Mitchell, Reina Estimo. For Wilsonville: Jill Noe 19, Erin Sharp 12, Sara Arzie 6, Marrette Boyce 6, Kristy Meyers 2, Laura Warren 12, Rustuin 1. r Central Panthers End Season for the Buffs Panthers enter state play-offs at OSU Gill Colisiem "As I seen it" The Central Panthers put a No, no, to state for the Buffs as they held off the Buffs for a 54-49 win eliminating the Buffs from further play for the year. It appeared the Buffs might wrap this game up early as they led through out the game until the final minutes to play of the game where the Panthers forged ahead and to never look back to get the win. In the first half the defensive play of Heather Klos held Central outstanding all league player Mandie Little to a mere three points. Little known for her explosions in scoring was un-able to shake loose from Klos. The Buffets held the lead after one quarter 1-6 and again out scoring Central 1 1-9 in the second quarter to lead 21-15 at the half time break. In the third quarter the Panthers came out storming with determination to out score the Buff gals 20-1 8 and cut into the B uff lead as their top player started to get free and do some scoring. In the final quarter Little was able to score 9 points to help the Panthers out score the Buffs 19-10, and to take the lead away to wrap up the bit for a state play-off for the Buffs and also the ending of a real good season for the Madras White Buffalo girls. During the game the Buffs were whistled 18 times for fouls to 13 for the Panthers, several judgment calls over looked in the game that could have made a big difference. During the second half Mandie Little managed to score 13 points after being held to just three in the first half and emerged their high scorer with 1 6 points. Deece Suppah and CeCe Polk each scored 13 points apiece to lead the Buff attack. Scoring for the Buffs: Suppah 13, Polk 13, Reina Estimo 7, Heather Klos 6, Nicole Main 5, Marie Kalama 4, Blanch Mitchell 1. Central Panthers: Mandie Little 16, Aimee Johnson 12, Velen Pena 11, Mandy Piper 5, Annie Fuller 4, Sybil Pfaff 4, Joclyn Branske 2.
