ranked Dalles Indran:
The Madras Lady Buffs hosted
the 7 Dalles Indians on Tuesday
February 16, 1999 and won with a
score of 40-35.
In the first quarter the game was
even throughout as the lady buffs
took advantage early with their full
court pressure defense which led to
easy fast break points.
At half-time the score was 23-20
with both teams having a lot of
turnovers throughout the quarter.
Madras loses to LaSalle 73-57
The boys basketball team hosted
the LaSalle Falcons on February 12,
and lost in a lopsided game with the
score of 73-57.
LaSalle was ahead after one period
with a score of 23-12.
Madras started a rally outscoring
the falcons in the second 15 to 13 to
make the score Madras 27, LaSalle
36 going into the half.
In the third both teams scored 12
points and the score was the falcons

The Riverside Indian School
Wrestling team has shown great
potential, with almost every team
member placing when the team
attended the last four wrestling
tournaments. Some of the wrestling
tournaments participated in were in
Lawton, Choctaw, Anadarko's Ryan
McComas Memorial wrestling
tournament and Weatherford.
One of the team members is from
Warm Springs and his name is Joe
Aguilar.
Harlem Crowns to bring
comedy show to Warm
Springs
The Community Wellness Center
Recreation Department, along with
the Human Services Branch of Warm
Springs are invitingeveryone tocome
and watch the Harlem Crowns
basketball team compete against a
local foe from Warm Springs. The
comedy, and Zany Action will begin
at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday March 4,
here at the Warm Springs Community
Wellness Center. The first 300 youth
Blackhawks participate in Seaside
tournament
During the weekend of February
13-14, the Blackhawks (Tom Cats)
participated in a seventh grade boys
division at the Seaside Tournament
in Seaside, Oregon. They compiled a
1 win, 3 loss record during the
tournament, but the team did very
well in competing hard and giving a
good effort throughout the
tournament. Most of the team was
comprised of sixth graders but did a
good job of competing and displaying
a good sportsmanship in the

The third quarter scoring was
really slow as Madras only scored
five points while the Dalles managed
to score only three points.
In the fourth quarter both teams
picked up the pace with each of them
scoring 12 points a piece. This was
not enough for the visitors as Madras
held on despite Deece Suppah fouling
out of the game late in the fourth
quarter.
Leading the way for the buffs was
48 to the buffs 39.
Madras could not get on track the
entire game and it stayed that way in
the fourth as LaSalle outscored them
25 to 18.
Jake Jaca led Madras as well as all
scores with 19 points and Keller
Christensen added 13. Two players
from the falcons scored 18 apiece to
lead their team respectfully.
Next up is a trip to the Dalles on
February 16, game time at 7:30.

Youth Wrestling League under the
direction of CoachDirector Jeff
Green. The team has been working
hard and getting ready for the
Southwest Oklahoma State Regional.
The top four placers at the S.W.
Regional then advance on to the
Oklahoma State Championship in
Tulsa in February.

The 23rd annual Reno Indian
Bowling Tournament is scheduled for
March 12, 13, 14, 1999, to be held in
the National Bowling Stadium.

The 2nd Annual Tygh Ridge All
Indian Rodeo will be held on May 1 5
& 1 6, 1 999. It will take place 8 miles
north on highway 197 from the old
Tygh Valley Rodeo Grounds.
Events included are Saddle Bronc,
Bareback, Bull Riding, Team Roping,

1. ABC and WIBC Tournament
Rules and Regulations will govern this
tournament.
2. The Tournament is open to all
Indian ABC-WIBC bowler, their spouses
and all members of the Reno Indian
Bowling League. Non-Indians are eligible
to bowl, but must be a spouse of a
participating Indian Bowler. Bowlers
must verify degree of Indian blood. No
bowler holding a pro card will be allowed
to participate in this tournament (i.e. PB A
card Holder.)
3. All entrants must be ABC or
WIBC members. Non-members can
qualify for entry by paying an affiliate
membership fee of $20.00 for women
and $ 1 2.00 for men or a participation fee
ABC - $5.00 or WIBC $5.00.
4. Teams will consist of four (4) men
and four (4) women in separate divisions.
5. All the events are on a handicap
basis, 80 of 2 10.

The Madras Lady buffs
traveled to Valley Catholic on
Saturday February 20 and lost in
overtime 55-53.
In the first quarter Valley
Catholic jumped out to an early
lead with a score of 1 2-7. Heather
Klos led the quarter with 3 points
for the buffs. Tiffany Mapston
had 8 points for the lady valiants.
In the second quarter both
teams scored nine points apiece
with Heather Klos scoring
another 3 points to keep the lady

Association has awarded the Warm
Springs Athletic Association
(Oregon) the bid for the 1999
Championships to be held at Jefferson
County Middle SchoolMadras and
the Warm Springs Community Center
on April 1 ,2,3, and 4, this will be a 24
team double elimination. Entry fee is
$325.00, payable by bank draft or

The Metro-Phoenix 2nd Annual
Tash O'Otham Desert Bowling
Classic Tournament will be held on
March 27 and 28, 1999, at Kyrene
Lanes in Chandler, Arizona.
All mail-in entries must be
submitted with cashier's check or
money order postmarked no later
than March 12, 1999. This is a
"house" request to guarantee lanes
based on number of entries received.
Events included on Saturday are
the Mixed team event. The cost is
$64.00 per team. Squad times are

The Rough Stock School will be
held on April 30, May 1 & 2, 1999. It
will take place at Tygh Ridge arena,
Dufar, OR (south of the Dalles on
Highway 197).
In attendance for the Broncs will
be J.L. Schaffer who is the Columbia
River Circuit Champ and Rookie of
the Year. For the Bulls is Guy Bob
Waite who brings over 12 years of
experience with him. Bullfighters will
be instructed Dan Newman who
Horse Race, and Wild Cow Milking.
Entry fee is $50.00. Contestant fee is
$10.00. Added per event is $300.00.
Books open on May 10-11, from 5
10p.m. Performance times are 1:00pm
daily and admission is $5.00 for
people over 12, $2.50 children 6 thru
12, children under 6 are admitted for

Sanctioned league average of 21 games

f. ABCWIBC Rule 319d (reporting
of prize winnings) does not apply.
7. Failure to use correct average
will disqualify scoreif submitted average
is lower than correct average hereby
resulting in more handicap. Prize
winnings shall be based on the submitted
average if it is higher than the correct
average. However, corrections in
averages may be permitted up to the
completion of the first game of a series.
8. All entries close at 1 2:00 p.m. on
March 14, 1999.

for the buffs to handle as she scored
4 points in the overtime and her
team scored 10 to Madras 8. Final

10. Multiple entry for 4-member
team events only. Once in doubles and
singles event. Not more than two players
on the same team can place more than
once in prize list of position standing.
1 1 . Tardy bowlers will be allowed
to start bowling beginning with the frame
in which he or she enters the game. No
scores will be given for frames missed.
12. All decisions of the Tournament
Committee are FINAL, unless an appeal
is made in accordance with ABCWIBC
Rule 329.

teammate Cece Polk added 12.
Tiffany Mapston lead all scores

The buffs will get another crack
at the Valiants but this time it will
be a League Playoff game and the
loser being done for the season.
Action will take place in the
Buffalo dome on Wednesday,
February 24, 1999. Game time is
at 7:00. No passes may be used to
get into the game.
