old, died due to an automobile ac

space, no individual shall be denied
admission to the Oregon Veterans
Home because of race, religion,
national origin, disability, sex age,
marital status, or sexual orientation.
The applicant must be:
a resident of Oregon on the
date of application;
able to pay all costs of care not
paid by the United States Department
of Veterans' Affairs;
in need of nursing home care.
In addition, an applicant must have
amedical examination within 90 days
prior to admission. The results must
state the applicant:
does not require medical care
for which the home is not equipped
or staffed to provide: and
does not have violent traits
which may prove dangerous to the
applicant; other veterans, staff or
others.
Eligible veterans shall be admitted
in the order the completed
applications are received, except the
recipients of the Medal of Honor
shall have first priority.
Applications can be obtained from
any of Oregon's County Veterans
Service Officers. The Oregon
Department of Veterans Affairs or
The Oregon veterans' Home. Their
telephone numbers may be found in
the Government section of local
telephone directories.
Our staff will do their very best to
answer all your questions and assist
with the admission planning process
to the Oregon Veterans' Home.
Professional Nursing
Care
Our team brings both experience
and expertise in all areas of long term
care to the specific physical social,
and emotional needs of each veteran.
Registered nurses, licensed practical
nurses and certified nursing assistants
provide the highest quality of care
possible, under the supervision of
administrative and medical staff.
Employees are professionally
licensed andor certified by the State
or appropriate professional
organizations. Our staff strives to be
responsive to each veteran and their
family in a professional manner.
Rehabilitation Services
Complementing our nursing team,
physical occupants, and speech
therapists provide specific physician
ordered services to help each veteran
meet their maximum rehabilitation
potential. Based upon individual
needs, the staff will design a therapy
program. Our therapists take a
personal interest in the progress of
each veteran.

OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY
Occupational Therapy helps the
veteran manage daily living activities
such as dressing, grooming and
feeding.
SPEECH THERAPY- Speech
Therapy helps to improve the verbal
and non-verbal means of
communication; reading and writing
skills and the comprehension of
questions.
DISCHARGE PLANNING -After
veterans are discharged from
our rehabilitation program, our staff
will continue to provide information
and guidance about rehabilitation
needs.
Activities
Activities are coordinated by our
staff, who not only present and direct
programs themselves, but also work
with volunteerindividuals and groups
to bring a wide range of events to the
facility and assist veterans to
participate in community events as
Social Services
Our staff Social Worker assist withi
coordinating the admission andl
discharge process and services as the:
primary liaison between the facility,,
the veteran, and the various agencies
that provide support services for the
veteran in the community.
Dietary Services
Veterans look forward to the
wholesome meals at the Oregon
Veterans' Home. All menus are
