It is a ministry run by vets for vets that provides individual and group counseling, literature, seminars and conferences to help bring aid and comfort to their brothers in arms. Point Man has but one guarantee: if you turn your life over to the Lord Jesus Christ, you will be healed. Point Man Ministries believes: That the Bible is the inerrant Word of God and was God-breathed through the Holy Spirit to the human Authors chosen by Him. That there is but one living and true God existing in three Persons - Father, Son and Holy Spirit - each equally deserving worship and obedience. That man's salvation is wholly by faith (not works), and that by virtue of the shed blood of Jesus Christ on the cross. He died for our sins and that all sin was defeated upon His rising from his grave to live once again. that healing for the body and mind is included in God's great plan of salvation. That the Holy Spirit indwells all who have accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Savior, and that all believers are entitled to earnestly seek the filling of the Holy Spirit for power in life and service. That personal return of Jesus Christ is imminent and that those days which the Bible describes as immediately preceding Christ's second coming are at hand. God Bless. II Ui,!i iff' Every Vietnam vet knows what a point man is, but for the benefit of our readers who don't know what one is, here goes during a military patrol, or infantry operation the point man walks several meters out in front of everyone else. His purpose is to serve as the eyes and ear for the unit following him through suspected enemy territory. He seeks out likely enemy ambush sites, booby traps, and anything else that would endanger or entrap his tailing companions. Therefore Point Man Ministries is designed to do the same today for all veterans through the healing This article - - The Point Man was printed with permission from the paper, "Reveille," which is published by, Point Man International Ministries, P.O. A few years ago we all went to the Polls to decide on if we wanted to go into gaming or not. Well we did and all agreed to go into the gaming field on a trial basis for at least five (5) years. Another question was the location, either here in Warm Springs, along hi-way 26, or at the Kahneeta lodge. Majority of the voters elected to have it at Kahneeta for several reasons. One of the main concerns was to improve employment for the local tribal membership, and also to draw more tourists to the resort. At that time I voted that we go into the gaming situation, but was apposed to the location, my selection was to have it along hi- way 26, and a location I thought was a good spot was at the junction ofhi-way2oandhi-way9. People told me the cost would be too great to build up there. What's the big deal? If we were going to make money that would have been one to find out. It would or wouldn't have paid for its self. No w we have our gaming at the Kahneeta lodge and we are already feeling the crunch of not enough business. We are also in the process of looking into other locations for our Casino. The area at Hood River is ideal for our future Casino, right along that east-west freeway along the Columbia River. I don't think we should bow to the White race or the settlement a Hood River, because they think it would hurt their economy. As a matter of fact it probably would 1999 budget topic of meetings Thursday, October 15 Agency District at the Agency Longhouse Simnasho District at the Simnasho Longhouse Seekseequa District at the Community Center Monday, October 26 Agency District at Agency Longhouse Tuesday, October 27 Simnasho District at Simnasho Longhouse Wednesday, October 28 Seekseequa District at Agency Longhouse Dinner at 6 p.m. Meeting at 7 p.m. help their economy and they don't realize it. They never gave it any thought to better themselves even if it Kurt the Indian race. Take a look at The Dalles dam that flooded the ancient Indian fishing grounds. It hurt the Northwest Indian tribes but did it matter to them. Heck no, they could care less of what happens to the Native Americans. We nave lost so much to the progress of the nation with out any compensation. Even at that the Non-Indians feel we are taking advantage of them when they open up fishing for a few days when in the olden days that was a lively hood for most tribal members. They can't understand why we do things like hunt and fish in ceded areas, many non-Indians never have heard of our treaty rights. And even if they do they think those rights should be done away with. But those were the terms set forth at that time and should be the law of the land. There are those who oppose the idea of a Casino in the Gorge near Hood River. They have every right to feel as they do. Just as the Indians feel the will of putting up a Casino there. Everyone has a right to believe what ever they want, this is a democratic society we live in today. But like I said before, no one could care less what the Indians felt like when the Ancient fishing grounds were flooded over and gone for ever. In my heart and mind I know that I am innocent. The effects on alcohol on minors: what can one say that everyone doesn't know already? It is a vicious cycle that began for me three or four generations ago. I am, like many others, powerless to stop it. Some scientists have even began to find evidence of an alcohol gene. I know alcohol is wrong, regardless of any excuse. I have seen and felt the bad effects of alcohol on minors; on my own children and on myself. From even before I or our sons have any vivid memory of being achild. I remember alcohol. I remember the fights, ver bal and physical. I remember the split-up of my parents as well as the demise of my own past relationship. I apologize to my sons (no names please). I apologize to my mother and father for making them worry. Please accept this.
