SpilyayTymoo ITC to be held at jKahneeta in 1999 'r The Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs will be hosting the 1999 Inter-Tribal Council (ITC) at Kah-Nee-Ta April 12-16, 1999. What is ITC all about? Approximately 72 differ ent tribes are paid members of ITC and represent many areas throughout the United Sates. Ranging from Alaska, New York, Florida and Cali fornia. J. Tribal leaders, Natural Resource managers and Natural Resource staff members focus on what is good for water, land and air plus everything in between. Discussion will revolve around what is the easy way and the hard way to get to the job(s) done to the satisfaction of the land owner. The above paragraph is just a very brief portion on what ITC talks about. The planning committee is re questing from the tribal members, the following: ; 1) Theme for symposium-the theme should be 1 0-1 5 words or less. ; 2) A logo will be for the registra tion packet and the final proceeding book-the logo will need to be in black and white, not more than 9 inches by 7 inches. They really enjoyed that evening. Fran at Kah-Nee-Ta for the great group rate. My brother Jameson and Virginia: my friends really enjoyed their many visits with you through out the weekend. Being at He He brought back many wonderful memories. Parading on horseback while our elders sang. Having so many out-of-state rela tives camping with us. The smell of huckleberries in our teepee before feast. Catching watermelons in the river as they floated down from other camps. The area full of people and life. The friendship of my cousins and schoolmates as we walked around arm in arm. Playing on the logs in the pond. The smell of hamburgers cook ing at the VFW stand. Dancing at the longhouse until everybody finally quit and somebody finally turned the generator off which shut down the lights in the longhouse. I am just sorry my kids can't experience that, so we are working on making pre cious new memories with them. Thank you again for the use of He He. Student Success Strategies Starting for Fall Term 98 This class is a requirement for any Tribal member who wishes to be eligible for the Tribal Education GrantLoan Program. It is designed for individuals who are making the "transition" to furthering their edu cation beyond high school in either college or vocational training insti tutions. Registration is underway now for the up-coming Term (Fall) with the first class to be Tuesday, October 7, 1998. There will be 7 total classes with sessions taking place once each week on Tuesday night from 6:00 P.M. to 8:30 P.M. Warm Springs Vocational Rehabilitation Program offers hour-long orientations on the last Wednesday of each month. The orientations are intended for those interested in applying for Voc-Rehab, staff who refer clients to Voc-Rehab and anyone else interested in learning about the program. The team name "Itkwaitisha Ayaiyatma" Walking Together, All the Women, consisted of Gwen Leonard, Tryna Muilenburg, Dena Thurby, Connie Blake, Nancy Seyler, Jolene Hintsala, Renee Silversmith Wewa, Gladys Squiemphen, Melva Tanewasha, Patsy Lenbek, Sonya Kenyon, and Donetta Ewack. Driv ers: Nancy Saludo and Sherri Smith. Our total time: 3 1 hours, 22 minutes. We averaged a 14-minute mile. This was not just one person ' s team but all of us as a team. Everyone enjoyed themselves and throughout the relay, got caught up in the excitement from the beginning to the end as we all crossed the finish line with Sonya at Seaside!
