On follow-up with the station employees, the suspect vehicle was described and several identities of the occupants were established that led officers to its location. Following a high risk felony stop, a weapon was recovered along with drugs that appeared to be packaged for sale. 'a. On the Streets: Community members . continue to report shots being , fired that has led to several arrests since the last article. Numerous weapons continue to ; be confiscated as a result of further investigation. In the area of motor vehicles; a total of four vehicle crashes were investigated, three cases were opened for fleeing attempt ; to elude, four drivers were charged for drunk driving, and one adult was cited for contributing to the delinquency or a minor. Domestic calls resulted in thirty seven individuals being ' taken in for detoxification, ten domestic disputes were looked into that led to three subjects facing charges of assault & battery, and one suicidal subject was referred for possible counseling. Four burglary alarms were responded to and one prowler call was handled. A total of two cases were investigated as a result of breaking & entering, trespass, and theft. Several partying complaints were additionally handled by officers since the last article. Dialing 911: , The Police Department reminds those that have an emergency to dial 911. Before you do however, please make sure that the situation is really an emergency. If you don't know the exact location, use cross streets, landmarks, or road signs as references. Also be prepared to give the dispatcher a call back number if requested. Be attentive and responsive. Listen to the dispatcher and follow any instructions given. Stay on the line until the dispatcher instructs you to hang up. Be brief and concise. You might think about what you are going to say before calling. The dispatcher needs to know the nature of the incident and the number of injured people if applicable. If you are reporting a crime in progress, do not try and stop the criminal yourself. Again, try and get as much detailed information as you can about what you are seeing or saw. Give a description or name of the subject and or vehicle. What is the location of the subject or where was heshe last seen. If a vehicle, which way was it last heading. One additional note, According the Communications Lt. Talifson, when dialing the 91 1 number, you might experience and have the impression that the phone is ; ' I , ? I V M ,S"ft' T 1 ringing and not being answered. This is not the case. The actual call might have between a 5-7 second delay where the call is travelling through several communication computers through AT & T and US West Communications. This is part of the feature that is within the enhanced 911 communications system. Our local dispatchers are attentive to the call as soon as the 91 1 line rings into the communications center.
