Was looking over the
certificate of results of the recent
elections from each district and
noticed where a lot of wasted
votes were tabulated of people
voting for themselves and
gotten vote.
Let's take a look at the
Agency district where there
were 10 candidates listed and
the count was fairly close all
around. Beside the regular
candidates there were 22 write
in names receiving 1 vote apiece
with the EXceptation of six
write in names receiving more
than one vote. They must have
had their family vote for them.
All these write in votes are
worthless. People know these
write in votes won't amount to
anything so why do people do these things?
If there are unsatisfactory feelings of the candidates who are
running for a Tribal Council seat, there is only one thing they can
do and that's to "ATTEND" the general council meetings and
voice their opinion there and even nominate a person of their
choice.
Well my point is there were 50 unnecessary votes where if they
were applied to the regular nominees these might have made a
difference in the outcome of the over all voting. , who knows.This
example was from the Agency district where the candidate
received 1702 votes among each other with 50 write in votes.
The candidate with the most votes came in 34 votes over the no.
2 person who was 8 votes over the third person. Now take all those
write-in and scatter them through all the regular nominees there
might have been a big difference in the final outcome. This
example came from the Agency district, so let's take a look at the
Simnasho district where there were 15 nominees listed on the
ballot. After all the votes were totaled and counted all the
nominees received 1,118 votes along with 24 votes of people
voting for themselves and getting one vote each.
Another point I would like to mention is that there could come
into reality in the future and that' s having a Primary election from
each district and select the top five candidates from the Agency
and Simnasho district for voting on during election day. I believe
this would solve a lot of unsatisfied people on who to vote for on
election day and not wasting votes on themselves.
Take a look at the Seekseequa district where there are only 208
who voted and two write in votes. In that district there were seven
nominated for the election and if there were a primary they could
have selected the top 4 for the final voting on election day. By
using the Primary system might eliminate all these un-necessary
votes of all those who voted for themselves
"What If!" We would elect at districts and on election day vote
at large! ! ! "What If." We do away with our districts and nominate
our best people who are qualified to operate a big business such
as ours. We do need the best people in office to handle our affairs.
Our business is what's the most important thing to us and we have
to do the best for our selves. The way things are now days people
say, "Hey! It's your turn to be on the Tribal Council no matter
what the person does or if he knows anything about running a big
business.. There are some nominees that don't have any ability or
back ground in the business world and are un-sure of their own
decisions they just go along with who ever sounds good.
I just hope someone doesn't come and give me hell for
expressing my thoughts on these matters because they are things
to think about. We have an open forum for anyone to write the
editor to express his opinions on any matter concerning Tribal
Matters. Who knows if you would make your suggestions and
express your opinion someone might get a good idea on how all
the people feel on matters that concern the Confederated Tribes.

To forgive, you must let go,
then send feelings away
Hello from Pastor Rick....
Welcome to the month of May.
our busy lives become ever more full
of things to do. Wow!
Today, I want to talk about the
word forgiveness. Did you know that
there are seven words that denote the
idea of forgiveness? In the Hebrew
Old Testament, they are kapar, nasa
and salah. Their meaning is "to
covcr...to bear away.. .and to pardon".
In the Greek New Testament the
words that denote forgiveness are
apolyein, charizcthai, aphesis and
paresis. Their meaning is "to put
away. ..disregarding. ..to forgive
sins. ..and letting go, sending away".
Now, for your Bible quiz: Which
of the four New Testament Greek
words for forgiveness is the main
meaning of the word that is used
more than 55 times in the New Tes
tament. Time's up! It is letting go and
sending away. To forgive someone
or yourself requires the two-step pro
cess of letting go and then sending it
away.

I've been in prison the last 10 years
of my life with just two years re
maining on my sentence. It wasn't
until recently that I discovered that I

Forgiveness is not a yo-yo. You
don't send away the hurt that some
one has put into your life and still
hold on to the event of hurting. Many
a Christian with a noble heart takes
shot after shot of pain and sin from a
loved one because they think they
are loving the. No.. .The Lord did not
create us to become targets for the
pain. We are to let go and send it
away.
When we let go we allow forgive
ness to change us. We become stron
ger inside knowing that we are better
prepared for the next hit. Each time
we forgive, we become stronger spiri
tually. We can speak our heart before
the next hit of pain comes to us. To
forgive is to change ourselves so
others around us will also change.
So, go and forgive and be changed.
We need a seat belt law for the
children.

I don't have much info to provide, as
I was to young to really know any
thing of both of my parents. Other
than my father had died in Vietnam.
The reason I'm seeking your help is
because within the next two years,
I'll be a free man who's paroling to
nothing or nobody. And if I have lost
relatives out there, it sure makes my
future than much brighter to look at.
As there is no greater joy in this
worked than of the joy that a family
can give. And I have to believe that I
may find this joy one day.
