Casey Green from Warm Springs came away with the Top Hand Saddle after being named Ail-Around Cowboy. Green placed first in the Calf Roping and Steer Wrestling, adding a second place in the Team Roping with partner Justin Tom. Green was also the top money winner. The Ail-Around cowgirl was Shannon Williams of Scfmr., Nevada. After winning the Ladies breakaway and Sr. Barrels. The Shane Mitchell team won the Wild Horse Race contest. hollowing is the results: Calf Roping There were 1 6 entries the top four times were: Casey Green earned first place and the $499.20, with a time of 10.12 seconds. 10.61 was the time for second place winncrScott Rogers. He received $374.40. Third place winner was John Clymo with a time of 1 0.75. 1 Ic received $249.60 for his efforts. Clint Harry 1 3.96 time placed him Fourth and he received $ 1 24.80. Team Roping Fifty two Teams entered this event. The top six teams were as follows: Dion Burluc and Denny Tirintiro won first place with a time of 6.94 seconds and split the $ 1 ,586.88 prize money. The team of Casey Green and Justin Tom placed second with a time of 7.05 and each received $656.64. Ty Rogers and Ralph Rogers earned third place with a time of 7.50 and split $ 1 ,039.68. A time of 8.10 was good enough for the fourth place team of Barry Rogers and Justin Tom. Each received $383.04. Ralph Rogers and Bob Joseph each received $246.24 for placing fifth with a time of 8.25. Sixth went to the team of Carl Johnson and John Matlock with a time of 8.50. Each received $136.80. Steer Wrestling McPherson win Endurance Horse Race 1 , Brian McPherson heading toward The 1 997 Pi Ume Sha Memorial Endurance race in which was held in memory of Alice Florendo, committee member, Rowena Begay and Juanita Blodgett, committee secretary's. The winner's were as follows Brian McPherson of Wilsonville in the Sr. division and Eleanor Gungshows of Warm Springs won the Jr. division. There were five entries in the Senior division. The entry fee was $ 1 00, the course covered 1 4 miles and the riders had to use a stock saddle, also had to be 16 years or older. With a added purse of $1,000. Brian McPherson, Wilsonville, rode the 14 mile course in 48 minutes and 31 seconds. McPherson received 50 of the entry fee. A Silver buckle Trophy, Denim-shirt jacket, Horse-Hair Rein set, Rope with bag. Saddle bag & blanket, and a T-Shirt & Cap. Shane Onelv. Warm Springs. came in Second, crossing the line in I hour 9 minutes 48 seconds. For his efforts Onely received 30 of the entry fee. A second place Silver Trophy buckle. Denim Shirt jacket, Rope, Saddle Blanket and T-shirt & cap. Robert Heath Sr., Warm Seven cowboys entered this event. Casey Green won with a time of 10.25, five seconds faster than the second place cowboy. Green earned $408 for First place. Second went to Todd Cline with a time of 15,60 and won $244.80. John Clymo earned $163.20 by finishing Third with a time of 15.79. Saddle Krone Eleven Cowboys tested their skills in this event. Dave Best won with a score of 67 and took home $403.20 for his efforts. A score 64 was good for second by Terry Parrish, Parrish won $302.4(5. Mike Trotchie turned in a ride of 61 earning him Third place and $201.60. Emmitt Hicks scored 52 and went home $100.80 richer. Bull Riding Bull riding drew 10 cowboys with Jamie Laplantc winning with a score of 72. Laplantc took home $480. Second belonged to Dave Best with a score of 70. Best won $288. Third place and the $190 went to Pokey Tomaskct with a score of 65. Bareback Jason Birgeron beat the six other riders with a score of 66. In winning first, Birgeron won $408. Jamie Laplantc took home the second place prize money of 244.80. Fred Blackwatcr finished third with a score of 54 and left with $163.20. Ladies Breakaway. Shannon Williams ranaway from the rest of the field with a time of 4.99 seconds earning herself $499.20 of prize money. Kellie Harry won second place with a time of 5.82 and the $374.40 that went along with second. The third place money, $249.60, went to Janice Sutton with a time of 6.80. The fourth place money was ground spl it to the above winners, with each receiving 41.60. Sr. Barrels If 1 ' ' - victory at the Endurance race Springs, came in a time of 1 hour 12 minutes and 2 seconds. He received 20 of the entry fee, a Denim Shirt Jacket, A T-Shirt and Cap. Chief Smith, Warm Springs, might have came in second be his horse fell over crossing the Shitke creek. With help Smith got his horse up and completed the race in 1 hour 18 minutes and 16 seconds. Smith received a Denim shirt-Jacket and cap. Chief Delvis Heath, Warm Springs, completed the course 1 hour 34 minutes and 31 seconds. Heath received a Denim Shirt-Jacket and cap. The Junior course was 5-6 miles long, riders had to use a stock saddle, be 1 5 or younger. The entry fee was $50 with added purse of $200. Eleanor Gungshows of Warm Springs was First in a time of 12 minutes , 46 seconds. Gungshows won 50 of the entry fee, a Silver Buckle, Beaded head stall set, saddle bag & blanket and a t-Shirt & cap. Second went to Mary Ann Stahi of Warm Springs who finished the course in 1 3 minutes and 46 seconds. Stahi got 30 of the entry fee, a Saddle bag, rope, t-shirt and cap. Third went to Joe Scott in a time of 1 1 minutes 1 5 seconds1 3 minutes and 47 seconds. For his efforts Scott received a Saddle blanket, T-shirt & cap. There were 24 participants in this event. Shannon Williams beat out the other lop three contestants with her lime of 1 7.22 and won the $652.80 first place prize money. A time of 17.69 earned Melissa Louis the $489.60 second place money. Marilyn Calliflower edge out Mary Ann Frazicr by the lime of 17.81 to 17.85 and earned the third place money of $326.40. Frazicr received $163.20 for her effort. Jr. Barrels Of the 16 contestants, Ashley Strom had the fastest time of 17.90 and won $232. Ashley Picard placed second with a time of 1 8.67, winning $ 1 74. Bobby Parrish turned in a time of 1 8.88 and received (he third place money of $116. A time of 19.14 earned Bethany Sam $58 and fourth place. Wild Horse Race First go on Saturday. Eight teams participated in the Wild Horse Race. The team of Joe Jackson won the first go around with a time of 4 1 :58 seconds. The Shane Mitchell team placed second turning in a time of 1 minute 1 1:66 seconds and went home with $255. The Yahtin Frank team earned $170 and third place honors by turning in a time of 1 minute 21:68 seconds. Second go on Sunday. The Blaine Chasing Hawk team turned in the fastest time of the day with a time of 32:43 seconds. The team of Shane Mitchell was right behind with a time of 33:84 and in doing so earned second place for the day, receiving $244. Their two-day total was $710 giving them the Wild Horse Race championship jackets. Third place trophy for Sunday went to the team of Terry Squiemphcn with a time of 59.49 seconds. Run to honor, B e a m e r The First Annual Todd Bcamcr Independence Day Run will held on Friday July 4, Madras. As a kickoff to the Madras 4th of July celebration. An outstanding athlete and avid runner, Todd Bcamcr recently died at the age of 28 when he drowned while running with the family dogs. The event will begin at 7:45 a.m. and will be headquartered at Shahalce Park. There will be a 10 K run and a two-mile fun run. The fun run begins at 8 a.m. at Shahalee Park. Participants in the 10 K will be bused from the park- located between C and B and Seventh and Eighth strects at the 7:45 a.m. to the starting point. The 10 K course is on asphalt and dirt roads. The run which is sponsored by the Mountain View Hospital District, will precede the Fourth of July parade, scheduled to start at 1 1 a.m. The parade will begin near the tennis courts and come down 10th Street, to B, and end at the park. The cost to participate in the event is $10, which includes a T-shirt. Those who do not want a t-shirt can pay only $5. Contributions are welcome. Ribbons will be awarded to the top three finishers in each division of the run.
