At the present time, appointments are helpful for the Veterans' ability to be assisted when their time is limited. Walk-ins are usually able to be helped upon arrival. Mrs. Johnson was born April 26, 1905 on the Grand Konae inuiau Reservation to John Warren & Cecile Leno. She lived in Grand Ronde with her family before relo cating to the Warm Springs Reser vation in 1930, where she resided until her passing. Pauline attended crhnnl in thp. f!rand Ronde area. She later married the late Reverend Orin Johnson and helped pastor the Full Gospel Church for many years. This marriage lasiea over uu yens, ending qnly when Reverend John son passed away in July 1989. Pauline started a missionary oui renrh in which she would travel to all the western states and Canada. She was very well known, bvery where she went, she was known as "Grandma" by all. Some nevereven knew her real name. Besides being a Reverend, Mrs. Johnson was a homemaker, raising one daughter, Cordelia Kneeland of Dalles, Oregon, 4 adopted grand children, extending into caring for great-grandchildren. During the Second World War she was a certi fied welder at Swan Island. Follow ing the shipyard duty, the family returned to Warm Springs. In her earlier years she lived on a farm and helped out with whatever needed to be done raising horses and cattle. She was a very good horse rider, riding everyday to check on the livestock and fencing.
