What are some of the issues from the 1983 Comprehensive Plan?
Cultural Resources Balance natural resource development
with preservation of cultural and historical resources.
Tribal Economy Match education and training to reservation
jobs available now and in the future.
Human Resources Examine the relationship of high
dropout rate to receipt of trust fund monies
Tribal Government Explain Treaty rights to the citizens.
Housing Provide for enough housing units to meet the
existing and future needs on the reservation, especially among
singles and young marrieds
Transportation Provide for overall transportation planning
and coordination with land use and development.
Recreation Use recreation programs as a means of helping
solve social and health problems.
What are the issues for the new updated Comp Plan?
Are the issues the same as in 1983?.. ..Are there new issues?.. ..Have we improved or gone backwards in some
areas? These are questions we will begin to examine at the Comprehensive Plan Fair. Be a part of the plan for
fhe future.
Public Facilities Determine the demand for rural domestic
water development and availability of ground water.
Forest Lands Protect root digging areas and increase the
number of huckleberry fields. Fertilize to increase berry
production.
Agriculture and Rangelands Expand agricultural land
uses and improve range uses that have declined on the reservation
due to fractionated interest in land and lack of support and interest
in range management programs, practices and policies.
Natural Resources Protect and secure water rights.
Natural Hazards Provide for reservation-wide flood conrol
and flood-plain management, especially along Shitike Creek,
Tenino Creek and the Warm Springs River.
