Member hurt, dissatisfied '- ' '' J , .; f f(, :j To the editor, I have questions of how adoptions came about. My late grandmother Jesse Arthur told me a lot of stories. She told me when the Indians went fish everyone went to fish. Pick berries, everybody moved. We followed the seasons for our live lihood. No one was denied. It was free to the people. Given by God. I was very disappointed about the adoptions. In early 1 900's, we had black sla very. Buyers gathered to check their eyes, teeth and private parts. Their muscles body strengths and weak nesses. The ladies were child bearing and had hard labor. The men for muscle strength to endure hardships and hard work. Myself, I feel we subjected our own flesh and blood to this humilia tion. We stood them up in front of the people. They had to show themselves. Speak about their past blood line. When we cannot take our blood out of them that were not adopted. We shamed our ancestors that es tablished good things for us. We can't stop loving and looking at our chil dren that didn't get adopted. Where do our hears lie? We have adopted too many white man ways. I'm really hurt and dissatisfied that my 3 grandchildren and others were like left behind. I other words thrown away. Council members check your hearts.
