Walter Langnese III Judge, Warm Springs Tribal Court Fire causes damage On Wednesday, January 3, Warm Springs Fire and Safety responded to 3243 Walsey Lane on a report of a house fire. The fire reportedly started at a Christmas tree that had been placed on the back porch of the residence. The fire caused an 85 percent loss to the personal property belonging to Tonia Hall and her family, according to Fire and Safety reports. No one was at home at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported. The fire was started accidently and took 11 firefighters 15 minutes to extinguish the fire. Danzuka Judge, Warm Springs Tribal Court Man bleeds to death On Monday, January 8, 1996, at approximately 4:15 p.m., officers from the Warm Springs Police Department responded to a "domestic" at 1860 Poosh in West Hills. Upon arrival officers found Dwayne "Packy " Heath with a severe laceration to his rightforearm. Warm Springs Fire and Safety transported Heath to the Warm Springs Health and Wellness Center for immediate medical attention. At 6 p.m., Heath was transported via Air Life to St. Charles Medical Center in Bend. He died enroute. The cause of Heath's death was determined to be a "severe laceration to the right antecubital brachial artery" which caused him to bleed to death. Heath was born March 5, 1962 at Prineville, OR to Roy Heath, Sr. and Delilah (Thomas) Heath. He was a life long resident of Warm Springs where he grew up and attended schools in Warm Springs and Ma dras. He had worked for the Warm Springs Forest Products in the Ve neer plant until it closed, then as a tree thinner for Grant Clements, Sr. He was one of the original singers for the Wawokya drum group which included Leroy Selam, Roy, Jr., Gaylord, Boss, and Hazel Heath, Foster Kalama, Kevin Albert, and Timmy Heath. This group started 15 years ago and was one of the many things he enjoyed. This group was invited to many powwows to sing. He was a treaty fisherman along with fishing at the Columbia River as a traditional fisherman. Also he trav 4 KyyvgJ Anita Totus Walsey Anita Totus Walsey, 54, of Granger, Washington passed away on January 2, 1996 at the Providence Yakima Medical Center. She was born February 24, 1941 to the late Virgil Hunt, Sr. and Dorothy Ida Lucas and was raised by the late Watson Totus and Tilda Onepenne Totus. Walsey grew up in Satus and lived there most of her life. She spend one year in The Dalles, Oregon. She at tended schools in Granger. Anita held several rodeo queen and princess titles for the Ellensburg Rodeo and the Toppenish Powwow and Rodeo. She was also the American Beauty winner in Pendleton, Oregon. Anita was a Fancy and Traditional dancer and won competitively. Also, she participated in a dance group through out the U.S. and Canada. She was an Indian Language teacher at Garfield School in Toppenish. Anita was a root digger and berry gatherer for the Satus Longhouse and enjoyed watching Karaoke singing. When she was younger, she enjoyed horseback riding and tending to horses. She loved the company of her grandchildren and was proud and happy to see them powwow dancing. She was a Seven Drum member and also attended the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints. Until her death, she was a homemaker and a terrific grandma. She is survived by her daughters, Cecelia Walsey-Begay of The Dalles, OR; Marilyn Wahtomy of Ft. Hall, ID; Maria Patt Hicks of Klamath Florence Chester McKee Florence Chester McKee, a resi dent of Bend, Oregon since 1972 died December 30 at St. Charles Medical Center. She was 62 years old. A memorial service was held on Wednesday, January 3, at 1 1 a.m. at the Assembly of God Church in Beatty, Oregon with Reverend Wil liam Rentz officiating. Mrs. McKee was born in Klamath Agency, Oregon on September 23, 1933 to parents Luke F. and Lenora (Godowa) Chester. She was a member of the Klamath Tribe and was one of the founding Tichum "Packy" Heath eled with the basketball team, the War Chiefs to many tournaments in. the Northwest and beyond. He was once a bull rider and enjoyed travel ing and meeting people. Preceding him in death are par ents, Roy Heath, Sr. in 1984; mother Delilah Heath in 1975; infant sister Alice D. Heath in 1959, infant brother and infant sister Deborah. He is sur vived by children Waylon C. Heath,' Delila Ann, Ikie Marie and Deborah C. Heath; brothers Theodore O. "Ted" Chase, Gaylord, Roy Jr., and Ronald "Boss" Heath; sisters Eliza-, beth "Libby" Chase, Pearl Heath-, Culps and Hazel Heath-Wahpat all of Warm Springs. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. Traditional dressing ceremonies was held on Wednesday, January 10th at 10 a.m. at the Warm Springs Agency Longhouse with Larry Dick presiding.
