Everyone in the world lives
; his life the way he wants to. Most
. have jobs they work at everyday,
j many are buying homes, buying
; new cars, clothes, etc. Making a
! living for their family. Some are
pretty well off while others are,
; so, so, and there are some of the
unfortunate who live from day to
day with no real goal in life.
; This is a cruel world we live in
I today, and it depends on how one
has prepared himself for his fu
ture.. When a child starts to make
his way in life he is taught how to
face daily problems. He is taught
the good, the bad and the ugly.
Throughout lie a person has to
learn to choose from right and
wrong.
For example: A father could ask his son, "If little Joey had two
apples and he gave you one, how many would he have left? Reply,
None, because I'm bigger than he is." Yikes. of course this was just
and example of what the real world could be like.
Since childbirth people have to learn to work together, have respect
for one another because we all have to live together. Communication
is one of the biggest problems in the world today. Most of the time
people who are together from day to day begin to take things for
granted and sort of inticipate whats the next move. But from day one
we all must learn how to follow rules. There are rules for everything
we do and we don't just pick them up in a day or two. We live these
things in our daily lives with out the thought that this is right or wrong
because these things we do fall into place naturally. As a child we learn
,to get up in the morning get dressed, we learn to go to school everyday
until we finnish.
When we get a job we know we must be there on time and put in so
many hours a day to fulfill our commitment to the boss or company.
If we fail to comply with the rules of the company we can surely get
fired for not following the rules. When we get married we know we
have a family to look out for, we ,make a living and support that family
make sure they are well taken care of. We go by rules everyday.
. Everything in life must fallow some sort of Dattern that evervone must
. follow in order to get along. Yep !
you must do what everyone else
Well, what I'm really referring to is kids and athletics in school. The
rule that all kids who want to participate in sports must comply with
the rules which includes taking a drug test. If you want to be on the
team you must follow the rules like anyone else. If the requirements
are that you have to have a drug test so-be-it. Because if a kid refuses
to take a drug test is like play ing basketball and not wanting the referee
to call fouls on him that he commits. He is not complying with the rules
that all the other kids have followed in order to play athletics. A person
cannot make his own rules of the team. What kind of a team do you
think a coach would have if all the kids refused to do certain things
with the team. He would have kids going every direction if they didn't
obey the rules.
There was this kid in Vernonia, OR. James Acton, who refused to
take the drug test , and challanged the Vernonia School District drug
testing policy in 1 99 1 and followed it all the way to the US Supreme
Court. If he refuses to take the drug test he shouldn't be allowed to play
sports, and to look at him he probably wouldn't be missed either.
Refusing to take the drug test shows he is un willing to go by the rules
like the rest of the kids did on the team who went through this in order
to play on the team,
, We all had to sacrifice a thing or two during our life time in order
to be able to participate with the rest of the population and it never hurt
at all. Yep! we've lived with rules all our lives and we are still happy
and a little drug test didn't hurt at all.AHH-NAH-Chi-TOON! ! !

To the editor:
I am writing in regards to the
accident I was unfortunately involved
in May 19, 1995 in Madras. I was
very fortunate that I only received a
minor concussion and very sore
muscles, besides being really scared.
I am very thankful that my kids were
not with me as they usually are. The
Man upstairs definitely had his eye
on me that night.
I would like to thank Irene and
Mariana Atencio for coming to the
emergency room to be with me as
soon as they heard, beings it took my
husband a long time to get through
the accident scene from Warm
Springs. It was a very scary time, and
I am thankful to have friends like
them.
Mom, I would very much like to
thank you. You volunteered your van
to us before I even had a chance to
worry about how we were going to
get around. And, for the truck the
following week.
It was a long time without my car,
due to the excessive damage to it.
And I would also like to thank Tates
and Tiger for loaning us their vehicles
until I got my car back. I am so happy
to have my car back.
I would also like to thank all my
friends who called or just asked how
I was. It meant a lot. I would also like
to extend a thank you to Joe at Fenders
by Endres for doing such a nice job
on my car.
And please, if you know someone
who is obviously too drunk to drive,
take their keys, try your hardest to
keep them off the road.
Very thankful,

Step into life
To the editor,
Hello from Pastor Rick. I have
seen a new look in the community.
Large wide eyes, a shaking body, not
eating for days. Yep, it is the new
crank look. It is the look of some
one who is on a powerful drug; an
upper. We now add this look to the
alcohol look. We are getting to have
quite the fashion statements. Here is
my question. Why do people want to
step away from life?
Jacob was a man who did some
pretty bad things to his family, his
people and to himself. Yet there came
the time for Jacob to get back into life
again. Jacob wrestled with God. That
is how Jacob was brought back into
life. After wrestling with God he got
three things. One. He got a sore hip.
Two. He was given a new name,
Israel. Which means to struggle with
God. Three. A blessing. The blessing
was a reminder that the Lord was
with him and that the Lord was for
him.-,
Ouf;Creator is with us in life and
is with us when we step away from
life. The difference being when we
decide when to turn to God and not
away from God. You see, the bless
ing of Jacob was given not only to
him but to us, too. Don't step away,
step into life.
See you in Church.

We give our thanks to the EMT's
that transported him to Emmanuel
Hospital by ambulance. Thank you
Tim Demers and Marshall Rash.
And, especially to both of our

our sides through the pain and tears.
If it wasn't for vou. it would' ve been
a harder struggle for us, thanks to all
of you guys.

that he is doing GREAT!!!

I would like to THANK local
businesses in Madras & Warm
Springs (too many to name) for sup
porting WSE school with donations
requested throughout the year. With
out your support we would not have
been able to honor students that truly
deserve recognition for the efforts
they put forth at school.
I would like to take this opportu
nity to invite the community to visit
WSE this fall when the school starts,
to possibly be involved in some type
of school activity.
There are a number of ways our
community can help, and we appre
ciate any kind of volunteer help you
can provide. I would like to encour
age community members to visit the
school or playground just to say Hi.
I think it would really mean a lot to
the kids to have people in the com
munity stopping by, even if it is just
for a few minutes. Who knows? You
might even get as popular as Fire

Have a safe summer!
