With the organization at its growth there arc more and more things that arc needed. A lot of questions for funds requested are needed to be justified by the super visor. As the Tribal Council goes through the budgets with all the departments, there arc always call backs for more explanation as to why these funds are needed. Many times there is a need to increase personnel on the job, or some spe cial equipment is needed in order to do certain jobs. New positions are another area that increases the amount of money needed especially in the field where there are scores of different types of jobs that need to be taken care of. Most of the departments are operating pretty much of past experience with just a limited increae in funding requests. Yep! It's not an encious job the Tribal Council has at this time. Those work days can seem vey long looking over all those numbers. And when this is ail completed than the budget will be posted for Tribal Member review, than comes the district meetings and than the final General Council meeting where everyone can voice their opinions on the various budgets or personnel. Well the summer season is at a close, but the fire dangeris farm forgone, the country is still as dry as ever and can ignite and cause quite a blaze with out much trouble. Even though the summer season is overthere are still fire ristrictions in the woods yet Like there are no fire wood cutting in the lower grass lands. All the wood cutting must be done in the higher elevatins where there a little more moisture from the cold nights. That's one good thing about the weather, that it is still hot but it really cools off at night Yep! it really isn't that safe to be out in the woods as everything is as dry as, well, ":Hcck" I 'm sure who ever goes into the woods to cut wood knows better than to be careless of starting any kind of fire. Well the School is about a month gone and all the little darlings are all settled back to their studies, it's kinda quiet around the place. For Madras High School, it's a new school year, a new athletic conference as they have moved from the Greater Oregon League into the Tri-Valley League of the of the metropolitian area. Yep! There trips are a lot shorter now as to what they used to travel, sometines they were on the bus from 6 to 8 hours going to play ball in the eastern pan of the state. Now the longest trip to the Tri-Valley league is shorter than the shortest trip the Buffaloes had in the GOL. Just think when basketball season opens and the Buffs are on the road, the fans who follow them to their games will be able to do some Chirstmas shopping along with rooting for the home team. There will be times when it may be a little tough getting to all the away games during the winter months as sometimes the pass gets quite a bit of snow. But that shouldn't stop many fans. Earlier this summer, the boys and some community members were selling green raffle tickets titles "Wowwie on Maui", will continue to be sold. Although originally the drawing was to be taken place August 2, 1994 will now be held on Saturday the weekend of our Annual Christmas Bazaar, December 10, 1994. Your patience and understanding is greatly appreciated and we look forward for your continued support. Sorry for this late notice. Thank you, The Team Remember those in the nursing home To the editor, To whom it may concern: We are writing in regards to our mother, who is in the Nursing home. She has been in a very depressed mood & is being pulled into a shell and being very confused and hurt. We understand that "People" has been asking her, "why" was she in that place, with all the daughters she has? And that has gotten her to do a great deal of hard thinking and now she's feeling unloved and all this time she had been very happy in there, with all the activities and trips they go on. This keeps our mom very active and not just laying idle in one of our homes, which would happen. Our mother needs 24 hour Relationships are not rock solid To the editor, Hello from Pastor Rick. We are doing a program about relationships on Tuesday night at our church lead by Madeline Queahpama. My education, training and fifteen years of experience has been about relationships. Relationships between people, and relationships between people and their God. I have not seen a bad relationship. I have seen relationships that cannot handle change. One of the great sins of our time is believing that a relationship between two people is something that is solid like a rock. No, rocks are solid; relationships are made of emotions feelings. They are solid because we have strong feelings about the other person. We believe that those feelings will not change. But, our Creator God has given us a great gift. A gift ' L . ) ) I Shower appreciated From Joseph Queahpama Tewee, I would like to thank: Ante Pamperein and Madeline Queahpama for my "baby shower". Romell Speakthunder for a delicious cake, Bobby for a great stew and peach cobbler. A very special thank-you to the elders who came to visit me on the day of my birth, and thank you Lucille for driving them. Thank you to all of my family and friends for all of my gifts and I did receive the one on our door. Happy Birthday to Elsie Sam Love Chet, Becky, Mychal, Curtis and Kenny Families appreciative of support of sons To the editor. stories shared by the veterans, anyone wanting to write. Only lcttc To the editor, A Special Thank you. The families of Eric Langnese and Jess Anstett want to express their sincere appreciation to Enos & Char Herkshan for the very touching ceremony and lunch that they organized and prepared for Eric & Jess who left for the Marine Corps. We would also like to express our gratitude to the veterans who participated and inspired us with their drum and songs. The message given by Enos to the boys and their families was heartfelt and comforting, we feel protected and honored in holding Eric & Jess' eagle feathers for their graduation and return from boot camp. The boys were motivated by all the positive encouragement given to them by everyone, even the war supervision and at certain times, needs shots for her foot that swells up, which we cannot do for her. She needs professionals around her. Sure "we" may be guilty for not spending as much time with her as we should, but we do keep in contact on a "daily basis". Since she was privileged enough to have her very own phone in her room, she needs that contact from "ALL" family members, not only herchildren. So here is her 475 4645. So, we would appreciate it very much when you do stop by her room, talk pleasant subjects and don't ask questions that would make her feel belittled. No one that's in the Nursing Home should be asked questions in we need in order for our relationships , to grow deep and to spread throughout t our lives. We grow older, we have job changes, our children grow up, everything around us seems to be moving. We yell to the stars that it is enough change in our lives. We fear to lose some of those strong emotion feelings of being solid. So we did in and say no to changes in our life and of course more changes happen when we say no. Let your love ones grow, let constructive, loving, joyful changes happen to you. Let the feeling of solid change its shape and color. A saying "To hold onto sand is to not close your hand, but to keep your hand wide open." May you keep your life wide open to allow our God to overflow his sand of love in your life. At this point right now, she needs to feel loved, right now she feels all alone and unwanted. So go and lift up her spirits and let her know she is loved now and not when she leaves us (as the last issue stated). Thanks for listening and taking the time to read this. Take it to heed, okay? First, though, I would like to apologize for the lateness, however late it may be, we are very appreciative of JOM committee's support. Our summer recreation program continues to grow each year and the number of children participating in our program and on our Friday field trips increase. We were able to contract with the 509-J to utilize one of their buses to accommodate this large number of participants on our field trips. And to help defray those additional costs, we were granted $2000.00 from the JOM committee. A big thank you to the JOM committee for this awards, it helped offset those costs to 509-J and we were able to serve all children as is the intent of our program. Your supportive endowment has certainly benefited all our children. Again, thank you to the JOM committee.
