TOE NESS "A lawyer is a guy who represents you just to make sure you get all that's coming to him." SS SS SS Ole Tom said: "Can you keep a secret?" John: "I sure can." Ole Tom: "I need to borrow some money." John: "Don't worry. It's just as if I never heard it." YIKES SS SS SS Ole Ed was walking down the street in Hollywood when he heard. "Pssst, Hey buddy!" Want to buy a clean movie." YIKES SS SS SS There was this not so bright guy applying for a job at the mill. He said: "Ah wuz bom in Alabamer." Interviewer: "What part?" The guy answered: "All of me." YIKES Volunteer help during grand opening appreciated "Whata day! Yep, What a day,"Thc weather is just fine with the temperatures soaring into the high 80's and low 90's, and just too nice to be indoors. A good day for fishing, how about that, maybe a drive down the river would make the dav complete, checkine ud on the fishermen at Shcrars Bridge. The drive down highway 97 was real fine with the green hills and flats only there was one thing mtssing...no celery, "Mccmie Ewinna," Well anyway the drive was terrific making a turn at the junction near Shaniko onto high way 197, which leads to Maupin, OR. Would you believe it was just about lunch time when we arrived at Maupin, was it planned that way or what? Well we might as well have something to eat while we are here, so we stopped in the Hotel along the river for lunch. After relaxing for a while after lunch the next jaunt was down the river to Shcrars Bridge, approximately 1 1 miles down river. We arrived at the scene and looking down to the falls where the white water is just gushing down the narrow channel with top force, pounding against the rock sides of the river. There wasn't a fisherman to be seen, all the scaffolds were idle with the nets all locked up. Just looking at that current makes me wonder what force there is behind all that water that flows over there and how do the salmon manage to get up such a current. The water bubbling, churning, over and over makes it an ideal place for net fishing. We went from the top end of the falls down to the lower side where there usually are some scaffolds, but there was no one there either. But by the time we returned to the upper side there were two tribal members getting out to the scaffold. Well we watched them for a while and they didn 't seem to be having any luck. Dip, dip, dip, and not a thing so it was decided that the fish were not moving at that particular time of the day. Some guys say that when it's hot the fish don't move much until later in the evening, "Well that's what some guys say." So we came home with out a fish story. "Shun-yee," It is said that many guys go down to fish at night maybe that's when we should have gone down for the big fish story. Well, anyway, it's that big one didn't get away or was bigger than the one you caught, or more than you caught. Getting home without the fish story didn't make me feel very bad because everytime I go fishing all I catch is a cold, and when I go hunting all I kill is time anyway. Ayeee!!! Just looking at that channel in the river looks too scary for me to be a fisherman. And the way it looks, it's a back breaking chore, swinging that dip net back and forth all day long. 1 can just imagine tnose nets can feel pretty dam heavy after a long day on the scaffold. Well someone has to produce the fish stories, so let them do it, Huh! I'd just as soon let that big fish get away and have someone else catch him, So there will be no Twa-Sa-Lee today, Nigh, AHH-NAH-CHI-TOON! ! !
