Entry fee is $175, payable only by money orders, cash or cash iers checks. Payment deadline is May 19 or an extra $25 will be required. Tournament champions will re ceive jackets while second through fifth place winners will receive sweatshirts and T-shirts. Local bowlers place well in Yakima Indian tourney The Yakima Indian Nation Bowl ing Tournament was held in Wapato, Washington March 27-28, 1993. There was a total of forty-two entries for the women's singles, there was five places awarded. Fifth place; Virginia Lallashute who totaled 636, fourth place Eliza McMillin-637, third place Minnie Fitzpatrick- 641, second place; Saphronia Katchia 643, and first place; Betty Hamilton 644 who received a jacket. Men's singles had 48 entries with six places. Sixth place; Mokey George-599, fifth place; Vaughn Weed-605, fourth place; LJ. Fiander-613, third place; Eli Lewis-614, second place; Gene Rednose-632, and first place; Virgil James-695; jacket. Women's doubles had a total of twenty-one entries with three places. Third place went to Norene Greene and Sandra Greene-1238, second place went to Lisa Shock and Vera Schaaf-1246, and first place went to Jennie Honanie and Helen Uribe 1262; jacket. The men's doubles had 25 entries and three places. Third place west to John Katchia, Jr. and Gene Rednose-1236, second place went to LJ. Fiandcr and Aaron Swan-1237, and first place went to Ben Johns and Mokey George-133 7; jackets. Mixed doubles had47 entries with six places. Sixth place went to Janice Fiandcr and L.J. The mixed team event had 23 teams with three places. Third place had a tic between two teams who each totaled 2381. One team con sisted of Virginia Lallashute, Virgil Lallashute, Jr., Shannon Nason, and Virgil Lallashute, Sr. The other team was; Vera Schaaf, Wal ly S martlowit, Kim S martlowit, and Joe James. The second place team; Clara Compo, Cecil Compo, Nadine Compo, and Jacob Spencer-2448, first place; Jennie Honanie, Anita George, Virgil James and Maynard Honanie-2490; each received jackets. In all events for the women there were twenty-five entries. Vera Schaaf had a handicap of 423, team total 506, doubles-470, singles 492-and a total of 1891, she was awarded a jacket and her name will be engraved on the Betty Dick Memorial Plaque. All events for the men's division there were twenty-nine entries. Gene Rednose of Warm Springs had a handicap of 288, team total-583, doubles-558, singles 536, and a total of 1965 which also earned him a jacket, and his name will be engraved on the Butch Phillips Memorial Plaque. For the women's masters the win ners were 1-5; Rose Barnick, Jessie Astor, Anita George, Connie Adams and Lisa Shockl. For the men they had three divisions. Division A- Matt Ives; jacket, and name engraved on the Leon Sampson Memorial Trophy. Ron Staggs, Ray Shike, Jr., Alley David and Don Elgin. Tulalip Warm Springs top all others in annual Northwest Teen Invitational The annual Northwest All Indian Teen basketball tournament was held at the Warm Springs Community Center April 30, May 1 -2, 1993. The event consisted of 7 boys teams and 3 girls teams vying for the champi onship titles. In the boys division the top team was Tulalip from Washington as they defeated the NW Host team of Warm Springs. Third place went to Lummi, Washington. A.T.M. (Above the Rim) of Warm Springs placed fourth and Nisqually, Washington fell short as they were awarded fifth place. The Most Valuable Player award went to Chris Joseph of Tulalip and Mr. Hustle was presented to TJ. Foltz of A.T.M. The all-stars for the weekend were Justin Guillery of Tulalip, Dennis Smith and Leland Dick of A.T.M., Jesse Kalama of Nisqually, Jay and Skip from Lummi, Lamar Jackson of the 69rs, Steve Stone and David Morrel of the NW Host team. The championship team for the girls division was Above The Rim, Burns placed second and Jr. NW Host of Warm Springs was third. The M.V.P. went to A.T.M.s Sharon Jones, and Ms. Hustle was presented to Bobbie Calica also of A.T.M.
