Suppah and team mates are currently vying for the championship at the State Tournament held March 16 through March 20 at Eugene. . Suppah named player ot the Leif Suppah was named the player of the year in the Greater Oregon League. Suppah was selected by his outstanding play during the year. Suppah's ability both on offense and defensive play was outstanding. His team leadership was a great asset in getting the Buffs moving, and his scoring ability from far out in 3 point land and drives up to the bucket. Suppah also got his share of rebounds N.I.AA 6 foot and under basketball tournament to be held March 31 The Warm Springs Athletic As sociation in Coordination with the National Indian Activities Associa tion, will be hosting the Annual 6 foot and Under Basketball Champi onships here in Warm Springs, and Madras beginning Wednesday, March 31 and to continue through Saturday, April 3. Twenty-four teams will be vying for the National Championships. Fi nals will be set for the Madras High School on Saturday, April 3, and will be broadcast live by KWSO Radio and Ken Man Miller. Entry fee is set at $250.00 per team, and N.I.A.A. fee's are $25 per team, and $3.00 per player are also assessed. Deadline for entry will be Tuesday, March 16, 1993. Jean Stanton Buffs take game one at state tournament The Madras White Buffaloes got the jumpon the Nonh Valley Knights Thursday Night and glided to a 75 62, win in the opening round of the 3 A Boy's stale basketball tournament held in the PIT, in Eugene, Oregon. The Buffs leading scorer and the COL playcrof the year, Leif Suppah, sat out most of the game with 4 fouls. In Suppah's absence Mark Harris and Ben Christcnscn look command of the scoring chores as Harris topped all scores with 21 points and Christcnscn came in off the bench and poured in 20 points. Harris hit 7 of 1 1 field goals and was 7 out of 1 1 Kah-Nee-Ta Mini The Annual Mini-Marathon is set for Saturday, April 24, at Kah-Nee-Ta Resort. The event has a 14.5 mile, and 10 kilometer (6.2 miles), 3.0 mile fun run, and 1.0 mile fun run walk. Overall winners for the 14.5 mile will receive gift certificates from Kah-Nee-Ta for one night stay, plus jogging outfits. There will also be Sign up now for Little League The Recreation Department is now registering local youths for the up coming Little League baseball and softball season. Registration fees for this years program is $15.00 per in dividual. Two or three members per same household is $30.00, and an additional $5.00 per player from the same household after that. Increase in fees is for jersey's that players will be able to keep after the season is completed. Currently, the Recreation sponsors 14 reams in the Little League Pro gram, and have teams for children in T-ball for ages 6-8 years; Minor League for boy's and girl's ages 8 1 1; and Major League for boy's and girl'sages 1 1-12. Reg istration on day of the race will begin at 7:30 a.m. at the Village entrance. A tribal rate will be set for interested Girl's, 3 teams in Minor boy's, 2 teams in both Major Girl's and Boy's, and 1 Senior Girl's team. Early registration is encouraging early for the program, to help deter Annual Root Feast The Annual Root Feast jackpot rodeo set for April 10, 11, 1993, with seven major rodeo events, with added attractions. There will be the three rough stock events bareback, saddle bronc and the bull riding events. Team roping, calf roping, steer wrestling and the girls barrel race. Entry fee will be $40.00, per event with the team roping $40.00 per man, 2 loops, enter two times. In the bull riding the first 40 paid entries will be accepted. The added attractions will be the wild horse race, entry fee is $165.00 per team and limited to 32 teams. Other events will include Jr. barrel race entry fee $20.00, 12 years and under. There will be a calf scramble free, 10 years and under. A $5.00 office charge will be held out per entry and no spouse passes will be given out. 6th Annual Reservation Relay set for May The 6th Annual Reservation Re lay is set for Saturday, May 8, at 9:00 a.m., and will begin and end at the Kah-Nee-Ta Village. Registration fee will be $75.00 per team. Teams will consist of 5 members per team in the adult cat egory, and youth teams may use 7 members per team. A special limit will be added for youth teams, that included: No relay leg is to exceed 3.0 miles in length.
