Jit , I Madras White Buffaloes to remain in GOL KenMan Miller and Ted Viramonte of KWSO Radio Station will broadcast Madras High School home varsity basketball games, both boys and girls, as the season starts. Feed from other stations will be aired during away games. WSNHIT championship game will also be aired on KWSO, January 2 at 8:30 p.m. Madras White Buffaloes will re main in the Greater Oregon League, after the Oregon School Activities Association turned down a request to enter the Tri-Valley league. In the Tri-Valley league which includes schools of Gladstone, Estacada, LaSalle, Sherwood, Hood River, Banks, The Dalles to name some. In the past the Madras girls softball team participated in the Tri Valley league. There would be big savings bud ' get wise as it would cut down in travel. It has been reported in the past that the farthest trip in the Tri-Valley league would be to Banks, Oregon, which is west of Portland yet it would be closer than the shortest (rip in the GOL, which is Burns. The GOL Schools all have about a 4 to 5 hour travel period and that covers a lot of miles. It was said that one reason the request was denied was because it was received after the deadline. It was said that the request may have been denied anyway because it was not that critical. In other board action theO.SAA. moved Cottage Grove back to 4-A status. And LaPine moved from 2-A to 3-A status to join the Ski-Em league. Hood River and Silvcrton will remain in the 3-A class even though the student enrollment ex ceeds the limit. Grant Union and Vale will remain in 2-A status even if their enrollment is also over the limit. All schools that exceed the classi fication will move up at the beginning of the next4 year block which will be in the fall of 1994. It was said that Madras request to switch leagues will also be studied at that time. Varsity & JV Boys Basketball Varsity & JV Girls Basketball-continued Frosh Boys Basketball Date HOME Team ...
